++ While rehearsing our 15-Again album tour , We gave fans & friends the opportunity to remix our single “Toop Toop” simply by making the a cappella of the track available on our myspace. The initiative was an immediate success (100 remixes were sent in 3 weeks) and was the kick-off point to the more elaborate Cassius Workshop project : 2 Myspace pages are fed with a number of new a cappela's to download and play with as well as streams of remixes made by a community of DJ’s and producers inspired by the band (more than 45.000 friends). As it became a web phenomena (more than 400 remixes were sent since october 2006), the idea of a record came up : it wouldn't just be a compilation, the result of a contest, more an instant Polaroid of an on-going project. And an hommage to the anonymous who gave the best of themselves to take part in this workshop. Web 2.0 has its advantages, an initiative of this kind on such a vast scale wouldn't have been possible just a few years back. “A good remix takes you where you were not expecting to go”. Prepare to be surprised by the offsprings of the Cassius generation.

++ C’est pendant les répétitions de la tournée suivant la sortie de l’album 15 Again que nous avons l’idée de mettre à disposition gratuitement sur notre page Myspace l’a cappella de “Toop Toop”. Le rapide succès de cette initiative (100 remixes reçus en 3 semaines) donne naissance au Cassius Workshop : une puis deux pages Myspace sur laquelle on peut à la fois télécharger des nouveaux a cappella, écouter les remixes proposés par toute une nouvelle génération de DJ’s et de producteurs qui ont fait d’internet leur terrain de jeu, et dialoguer avec l’impressionnante communauté qui s’est crée autour du groupe (plus de 45.000 friends). Devant le phénomène (plus de 400 remixes proposés depuis octobre 2006), son éclectisme et sa vitalité, l’idée du Cassius Workshop – le disque s’est dessinée : pas une compilation ni le résultat d’une compétition, mais un instantané du projet en pleine ébullition. Une façon pour le groupe de rendre hommage à tous ces anonymes qui se sont dépassés pour participer à cette initiative qui n’aurait pas été possible il y a quelques années encore. “Un bon remix, c’est celui qui t’emmène là où tu ne t’attends pas” explique Boombass : attendez-vous à être surpris par les fruits de la génération Cassius.
