Demont Pinder is featured as the visual creator for recording artist Raheem DeVaughn (Jive). His work speaks for itself.
Unique design, with a distinct style."A passion for social conciousness and a divine ability to entertain the senses with color, texture, and illusion will surely cement his place in urban art history." --- Heather RomantiniBorn at the Mecca of culture and diversity but raised in the city of innovation and originality, during the era of the urban explosion, one of Art’s new-school visionaries was conceived. Demont Peekaso, self proclaimed "God’s Puppet" was born in Queens, NY and moved to the Washington DC Metro area in the late 80’s. He had a passion for Art early in his childhood. He first realized the impact of his talent when he designed his school’s yearbook cover and painted murals on the school’s walls in 1991. Demont Pinder graduated from High Point High School, a magnet school for gifted students with academic honors. It was there that he left his government name and then the light bulb illuminated. He soon moved his creations from paper and the schoolhouse wall to fabric. Peekaso painted designs on T-shirts and jeans for himself, friends and family. This is where Art became Fashion.Monty as some of his closer friends call him didn’t need a team of individually inspired artists or a life-altering event to propel his solo movement. It is the insight he derived from the birth of his baby girl Skyy, the strength he gains being a single parent and the resilience of his spirit that make him a worthy contender on the competitive canvas of the urban art scene. Once people started to take notice of his creative designs, interest grew. He began taking orders for t-shirts and jeans, then hats, jackets, bandannas, tennis shoes and even purses. Anything that would hold the paint. Demont Peekaso touched on something truly special when he began "freestyling" portraits on apparel. Socially conscious, and in tune with the needs and desires of his community and culture Peekaso saw the larger picture, and the influence his Art and now Fashion could have on America and the world. This is where Art became Business.Peekaso began creating custom designs for virtually every prominent figure in Hip Hop and urban culture, to include Jay-Z, P.Diddy, 50 cent, Pharrell Williams, Russell Simmons, Missy Elliott and Quincy Jones as well as an array of athletes, local celebrities, and political figures. This provided the springboard Peekaso needed to build the reputation of his undeniable talent. His designs went on to make cameo appearances on Rap Legend KRS1 in Vibe Magazine, on Mike Tyson at the press conference before his 2005 fight, and several appearances on various artists in the Source and XXL Magazines and on the front cover of Billboard Magazine. His creations became epic illusions in music videos with Lil Flip, Bobby Valentino and Ludacris and on stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live. This is where Art met Hip-Hop.As the buzz about his talent turned in to a full blown melody he saw his art begin to take him places he’d only imagined. Globally, his vision is seen on artists he styles like Anthony Hamilton, and even on the apron Patti Labelle wears on her cooking show. Moreover, Peekaso can be seen all over the country on tour with Brian McKnight and New Edition as a silent member of the band for Jive recording artist Raheem DeVaughn and in 24 cities on the Seagram’s Live tour with Lil Mo, Exscape and Sharissa. While the musicians set the tone, Peekaso paints the vibes on stage to canvas, which are auctioned off following each performance. This is where Art became Work.Although Demont Peekaso’s Art seems to be created to inspire with its vast imagination and ambition, he has a different perspective. Peekaso does not create for the fame, acclaim or recognition. His Art is just a way to express himself in the purest most genuine way. Nevertheless, it fascinates and further encourages him that his creations motivate others to follow their hearts obsession. Art was always Passion ...Raheem Devaughn - Guess Who Love You More - Live
