Jewbacca would be cool. I'm always up for meeting like-minds....or this guy.
I'm a music whore. I buy cd's feverishly, listen constantly and always make time for my vinyl collection. When asked, "What music puts you in the mood?"; I responded accordingly in no particular order: "Avalon" Roxy Music, "Sea Changes" Beck, "Heaven or Las Vegas" Cocteau Twins, "New Gold Dream" Simpleminds, "Cheap Trick" CheapTrick, "Black Album" Damned, "Park Life" Blur, "Incredible Shrinking/Dawn of.." The Dickies, "Cars/Candy O" The Cars, "Wasps' Nests" The 6ths, "Simple Things" Zero 7, "That's Entertainment/Setting Sons" The Jam, "III" Peter Gabriel, "Blind" Andi Sex Gang, "The House of Tomorrow" Magnetic Fields, "Terror Twilight" Pavement, "Beggar's Banquet" Stones, "Singles Going Steady" Buzzcocks, "Goldfrapp" Goldfrapp, "Drums and Wires/Black Sea" XTC, "Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables/Plastic Surgery Disasters" Dead Kennedys, "Marquee Moon" Television, "Tommy/Quadrophenia/Who's Next" The Who, "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road/Captain Fantastic..." Elton John, "Illinois" Sufjan Stevens, "Nothing Shocking" Jane's Addiciton, Q: Are We Not Men- A: We Are Devo, Yellow House" Grizzly Bear, "Entertainment/Songs of the Free" Gang of Four, "Night Time/Killing Joke" Killing Joke, "The Soft Bulletin/Clouds Taste Metallic" The Flaming Lips, "Rocks" Aerosmith, Bowie circa '69 to '80, "T-Rexstasy", etc... ad nauseum. My roots started with 60's British Invasion (Who, Kinks, Beatles, Yardbirds, Stones et al) and 70's thud rock, ie; Zeppelin, Sabbath, Cooper, early Aerosmith (and yes, I saw KISS in '76 with Ted Nugent). This was quickly augmented by Bowie, Bolan, Eno and Iggy, then bled into the natural progression: Punk. Soon, the blender switched to post-punk and eventually funneled into all the dream-scapes of the 80's and crunchiness of the 90's. These days my tastes are a Diaspora of rock. I currently play guitar in the band BOLLWEEVIL
MOVIE QUOTE TIME: "You lookin' at me? You LOOKIN' at me?"; "Everyone gets everything he wants. I wanted a mission. And for my sins, they gave me one."; "The sound barrier is a farm you can buy in the sky."; "No time for the old in-out, love. I've just come to read the meter."; "My God, it's full of stars"; "Leave the gun. Take the cannoli."; "It's your hand, Buckaroo!"; "You go inside the cage...cage goes into the water...you go in the water...sharks in the water...our shark."; "What's your favorite beer? Heineken. Heineken?! Fuck that shit! PABST BLUE RIBBON!"; "It's a sad and beautiful world"; "Who are you? My name is Pussy Galore. I must be dreaming."
Netflix, Little Britain, The (original UK) Office, Speed Racer, Gigantor, Monty Python, Voyage into Space, Extras, Red Dwarf, Adult Swim (ATHF, Sealab, Space Ghost), South Park, Sopranos, Simpson's, Young Ones, first 6 episodes of Twin Peaks, anything on TLC, History Channel, BBC World, Three Stooges/Little Rascals re-runs, SportsCenter... that's enough tube!
Where do you start? Of late: Middlesex, Underworld, Dylan's Chronicals, The Sea Came in at Midnight, Jews Who Rock. Add the Complete works of e.e. cummings, anything by Tim Powers, Tom Robbins, Miller, Burrows, Faulkner, Thompson, Wolfe, et al... The modern lit classics; To Kill a Mocking Bird and Catcher in the Rye started everything for me. I also like Historical works and bios.
My folks.
