Profile Edited by ProfileMods MySpace Editor 2.0Joe Baggott was born in Alexandria,Va.Because of the Beatles and watching the Monkees at a very young age he dreamed of being a drummer,not having a drumkit would not stop the lad.He found you didn't really need a set to find a rythum.So his parents not wanting to buy a noisy drumkit settled on drumpads.BUMMER!!So he used what he had for a couple of years.Having an older sister and a brother broadened his outlook.He found by making a drumset out of pillows,(sisters pillows),potts,pans,canteens spread out on her bed(sisters again) he could play to records with headphones on.When his brother Gary bought a REAL drumkit a couple of years later he was trying to play to Nazereth,Led Zep,Bowie and BTO.With his brother trying to play in a band,he got to watch them practice one day.Watching the teens play,the guitar players Marshall and Frank just blew his mind.Not knowing much about guitars and what they could do,the ten yr old's life would change from this day on.Trying to emulate Jimi,Clapton,Page,Nugent Sabbath he figured his way around the fretboard.But when KISS exploaded,he had new heroes.Playing hrs at a time when most kids were out playing,he marched on.Through his teens he played with friends and friends of friends.Playing keg parties and charging at the door was the norm.On a healthy diet of van halen and Iron Maiden,ect.ect.ect,shredding was running through his veins.At twenty,someone told him about a gifted guitar player.Yeah right another Van Halen clone,or so he thought.A friend of a friend again,loanded him a cass tape.No J card,no pic,nothing but the tape.He could not even pronounce the guys name,Yng......Ingw......Ying.....,what ever.So he put the tape in.A song called Black Star.Oh my friggin GOD!!The most beautiful complex music,ORIGINAL music,he could possibly hear.Only in his mind could he hear such musicianship.Lets be for real,not even in his mind could he fathom music like this.Who the Fu....k is this guy,and how do the hell do YOU SAY HIS FRIGGIN NAME!!!!!!!!!!! he thought(cool)??Not to mention he is one yr younger than him.No way,no way could a person be this talented and so young.Could they...?That is when he made the connection,To truly be good,to better yourself as a musician,you must play morning,noon and night.That is what this Yng.....Ingw......guy did from seven yrs old.Joe did not want to show-off,he felt he was in a rut,and wanted to be a better guitarist.So he put himself in the woodshed.Eight,ten hrs a day,wether he worked or not,no excuse.Stopped playing in bands,and friends.You might say he was a recluse.He had a serious car accident in 84.Laying in traction,then a rod inserted in his femur,then the same bone and rod breaking a year later,and learning to walk all over again, he soon had alot of time on his hands.Two yrs of time.This is the worst thing that ever happened to him he thought.Or is it the worst, and maybe the best.Now came 15 hrs.18 hrs whtever was available.So the worst thing became a better thing.Somehow word spread,made a name for himself in his town.But decent musicians know how that is."He plays to fast,makes it to hard to play,I like to play with feeling""He thinks he's the shit!! Even friends he grew up with,who shall remain nameless,(you know who you are) turn on you.Just because of talent and a love of guitar,people turn their backs on you.Even the ones that can barely play their instrument stab you in the back.Envy,has to be,why else would a guitar player not want to learn from someone who is better?So he came to another conclusion!FUCK EM!!!! FUCK EVERYBODY.He did not even think about stardom,he just wanted to learn to play, what he could not play.Thats it in a nutshell.
Joe has never had a lesson in his life.Though he wished he had,and that means he probably would be better,at least in his eyes.He thinks of Paul Gilbert,Dream Theatre,the like,what if?So you must march on. He has played in quite a few bands.By far the most successful was the band MADDAX.Ofcourse he had change his style a tad,lighten up a bit and try to make some good metal with some hooks,have some fun.But throw in a occational arpeggio,sweep,pedal-tone to save grace.Together on and off for 12yrs or so,occationally with other members Maddax has played gigs from Clear Watter Fl. to Altoona Pa. and all between.Breaking down in Fl. to Tornado scares in S.C. The singer Eric Nutter almost drowning in FL.guess who pulled his big keester out the ocean,NO.......NO........NO again.......Joe, correct!Lots of fun 4 guys traveling around in the drummers stationwagon and trailer.They have opened for the likes of Yngwie J. Malmsteen,Joe's high point,Quiet Riot 3 times,Accept,Slaughter,Dee Snider's Widow Maker,LA Guns,Bullet Boys,WASP,By the way Blackie is a stuck up PRICK again a PRICK,Dokken,Brett Michaels twice,Krokus(nice guys),Vince Neil and many more we can't remember or don't care to remember.Joe recently left a different version of Maddax to play with former members of the band,the best yrs.They are friends,and will stay friends,they share many memories from the road.Joe,Eric,Kenny and Tom are recording covers , because they want to,and writing new material,always inventing,recording,trying to be better at their own craft.Beats putting on fucking eyeliner and poseing like a bitch!! To much Pride I guess!!So any kid who loves the guitar, and can't stop playing for the love, totally addicted.Not careing for the competion,they are the ones who get jealous.To learn from the people who are better,to need to play for you,nobody else.You don't have to have a fuckin gimmick,You don't need fuckin make-up and dressing up like a pussy for some stupid market.Do you want to end up looking like a 40 or 50 year old eyeliner fruit.Hope not!!!!Joe would rather go to work every day and take care of his kids then sell out.If you truly want the make-up route,as long as thats whats in your heart,go for it,more power to you."Yngwie showed me that you can be better with alot of hard work and dedication to your craft,no matter how good or bad".None of us can play with that beautiful verbrato he has,we don't have to,but to knock people who are gifted is a sin. Rapping is not a gift,not a talent,you don't need to lock yourself in a room practicing years and years to be proficent at rap.Just sell crack, and shoot somebody is a start.The kid who hears he plays to fast,does arpeggios up and down the neck,decent friends stab you in the back because you passed them by, "What market are you going for Joe". If we all knew what is going to get us rich,We'd all be rich,"thats the name of that tune".The kid that is the best he can be,Joe gave us advice to pass along....."FUCK EM ....FUCK THEM ALL,STICK TO YOUR GUNS"!!!! "YOU'LL ALWAYS BE BETTER THAN THEM ANYWAY,RICH OR POOR" PEACE...If you don't agree.....PISS OFF!!
