About Me

I am a writer-editor interested in art, music, books, films, drawing, dancing, paranormal, politics, history, writing and editing creative fiction.Yes, you may have seen me around town lurking in libraries, bookstores, museums, art galleries, music clubs, dance halls, video and comic book stores looking for the sublime in the divine and the profane. This sinister urge to find meaning in everyday human existence often leads to long and convoluted conversations and occasional alliances with the unsane, the poets, the geniuses, the misanthropes, the freaks, the outcasts, the discarded, the alienated and the rare miracles.Feel free to start a conversation, a correspondence or an interesting argument. However, if you find that people who have the audacity to feel and think differently than you do are an offense to the eye, ear and mind, don't bother – it will just end in bitter, bitter tears.Oh, yeah … I've been able to survive and mutate despite science's best attempts to destroy me … the atom bomb is useless against my armor-plated hide … a whole army of laser-eye-beam equipped giant sex robots awaits my command ... yadda yadda yadda.
"I have wanted to give Iraq a lesson in democracy — because we're experienced with it, you know. And, in democracy, after a hundred years, you have to let your slaves go. And, after a hundred and fifty years, you have to let your women vote. And, at the beginning of democracy, is that quite a bit of genocide and ethnic cleansing is quite okay. And that's what's going on now."
- Kurt Vonnegut, 14 Sept 2005
"Any dictator would admire the uniformity and obedience of the U.S. media."
- Noam Chomsky
"While the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the annunciation of truth.
"And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance, and depression. And where once you had the freedom to object, think, and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission.
"How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
"I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems, which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you."
- V For Vendetta
"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."
- Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering
"Who are these Swine? These flag-sucking half-wits who get fleeced and fooled by stupid little rich kids like George Bush? ... They speak for all that is cruel and stupid and viscious in the American character ... I piss down the throats of these Nazis. And I am too old to worry about whether they like it or not. Fuck Them."
- Hunter S. Thompson
"We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right."
- George Orwell
"It used to be, everyone was entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts. But that's not the case anymore. Facts matter not at all. Perception is everything. It's certainty. People love the president because he's certain of his choices as a leader, even if the facts that back him up don't seem to exist. It's the fact that he's certain that is very appealing to a certain section of the country. I really feel a dichotomy in the American populace. What is important? What you want to be true, or what is true?"
- Stephen Colbert
Hold faithfulness and sincerity as first principles.
- Confucius
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.
- J.R.R. Tolkien
Faith is, at one and the same time, absolutely necessary and altogether impossible.
- Stanislaw Lem
I respect faith, but doubt is what gets you an education.
- Wilson Mizner

You scored as Dante Alighieri. According to you most of humanity will spend at least some of their afterlife in hell. You have a high likelihood of being exiled, but anyone as bloody fucking romantic as you deserves what they get. You have an exceptional moral code, overshadowed by the fact that you yourself cannot uphold it.Your existence bears a definite irony, although of fairly Christian morality, many pagans, satanists, communists, and intellectuals admire you and your works for all the wrong reasons. Also, the brighest star in your sky is never going to be your lover...It takes a lot of grief to be the cartographer of hell.

The Bat-Man (with "joint action" ... just don't bogart it, Caped Crusader)
..
SPIDER-MAN: Nothing strikes fear in the hearts of swishy circus-themed supervillains more than Spidey teamed up with the DALLAS COWBOYS (??!) ... at least, I'D be intimidated. But what the hell is Spidey trying to catch? Is that a SHOE SIZE SCALE? What, did it belong to Tom Landry?

The Shadow, John Carter, Conan, Herbert West, The Phantom, Flash Gordon

The Tick, Homer Simpson, Bender Bending Rodriguez.
..
THE POWER OF HOSTESS: Here, Superman is so paranoid about being "outed" he spies on his OWN fucking apartment. Clearly, he'd rather people think he was a pastry-obsessed bulimic than a fruity alien from Krypton; after all, if he really ate that many sugary treats and DIDN'T purge, wouldn't he be a Super-Fatass? Not to mention he'd be constantly crapping rainbow-colored syrup like the flavor dispenser at the snow cone stand. At least he's got better fashion sense than the dweeb obsessed with pushing Clark out of the closet; clearly he's a candiate for a "Queer Eye" makeover. CONCLUSION: Lois Lane is seriously wasting her time, as Superman obviously has a thing for "real fruit filling."
..
SHITTY TOYS THAT MADE YOU CRY DEPT.: Toys'R'Us may have been out of "The Six Million Dollar Man" figure, but his middle-management, desk-bound supervisor, Oscar Goldman, is just as good, right? Steve Austin may have super-cool bionic parts and bionic vision, but Oscar's got an action briefcase! RADICAL! Just think, while Steve is out in the jungle fighting Bigfoot or toppling a Central American government, Oscar is waging the war at home, bravely facing the scowling members of the congressional Church Committee over whether it was good idea to assassinate the leader of the Underground Mole People. And with that bitchin' plaid sports jacket, Oscar's a happenin' dude, whether shuffling papers in the sub-basement bunker of the Pentagon or shufflin' his feet down on the dance floor! Thanks, Mom ... now you know why I do drugs and cry a lot.

Robots, robots, robots ... if you grew up in the late 1970s you couldn't swing a cat in a J.C. Penney's without knocking over a pile of crappy toy robots. And the king of them all was ... well, it wasn't THIS shitty thing, it was R2-D2. But if they were all sold out of the loveable "Star Wars" droid at the toy store, what was a Valium-addicted suburban mother to do? Look for other licensed late-'70s space toy crap, of course, like this "bitchin" ... uhh ... make that "cheaply-made" ... replica of the midget gay robot from the "Buck Rogers" TV show. It's Twiki, and he comes complete with that stupid talking clock he wears around his neck (25th century "bling," I guess) and "grip lock" hands (based on the latest 20th century clothespin technology, natch). It walks, but doesn't talk, so you have to do your own impression of Bugs Bunny suffering from emphysema when playing your own 25th Century adventure where "gettin' down" with a beefy guy in tights and a toupee is the latest craze ("Bee-dee-bee-dee-bee-dee ... Suck my ball-bearings, Buck.")
