CHEF RAGOO - un coglione per tutte le stagioni.

About Me

The Ass Formerly Unknown But mostly known as Chef Ragoo Born in 1972, Rome. As a kid I was a huge fan of Edoardo Bennato and The Police. At 14 I felt this world wasn't fit for me. I started wanting to understand that 'punk thing'. I loved that thing, and so I do now. I sang (well, uhm) in Cazzi Di Budda (comedy punk-rock, 1 demo never published), then in Dissenso (punk-metal, 1 demo published). Later I found myself playing in 2 bands. Vocals for Dread Cannabys, a hardcore classics cover band, and drums for Block Of Flats, a nice hardcore band with a brainiac way of composing (2 demos and one Lp + various features on lp and tape compilations). After both bands broke up, and after a couple of years of plain listening, I formed Tramones, where I sang and played bass (punk rock, 1 demo), and joined the great cali-like punk band Guastafeste (spent years with them, yet nothing published except for a song on Panic Now LP/CD comp). In the meantime I started rapping and adopted the name I still wear (fits better than the world does...). I did 1 demotape and a cd/ep as a rapper, with the production of Mr. Little Tony Negri, and acted in the movie Zora La Vampira directed by Manetti Bros, rapping three tracks of the soundtrack as Profondo Rosso (with G-Max of Flaminio Maphia and DJ Squarta of Piotta and Cor Veleno fame). In addition to that I featured on a ton of mixtapes, albums and demotapes for rappers all around this little country. In 2001 I quit rap and - after a brief stint in a punkized pop band, The Cunninghams, with my man Enrico Silvestrin and a couple of Palermo's Semprefreski - got the chance to join the great roman hardcore band FLU!, with my old Block Of Flats pal Fabrizio and two other great musicians, Angelo and Lele. We played an intense hard core that reminded nothing but us, and I'm still proud of what we did with that band. But then, after we published one of the nicest pieces of music I've ever been part of (Sensei Sillo, cd, Vacation House rec.), being a dad stood up as an obstacle for Angelo and we had to turn the band off. Now I'm sitting behind the drum set with Anti You, a fast 1981 fashioned hardcore band, with people of my age (well, I happen to be the oldest) and with a similar, long experience in the punk scene. We're now promoting our first cd on SOA records and I finally see the kind of reaction I always wanted to see from stage, since 15, even when I was rapping: people slamming the shit out of each other, in a soft and lovely way, without unnecessary fights. ------------------------- This Myspace is dedicated to all the music, good or bad, I've done in the past and to all the musicians, good or bad, I've played with in the past. Sucka Myspace only offers 4 mp3 slots, that's why the 'jukebox' will often change its playlist. -------------------------- I know, I know, everything I always did sucks huge balls. Why bother telling me? Even better: tell me, but find a creative way. My musical-sheisse could be your life, fake names are proof.

Sounds Like: Shit, man. I'm predestined to eternally sound like a huge pool of liquid shit. here's some. Block Of Flats was a strange band man. When we started we were totally wack and I definitely couldn't play. Yet we played these 6 minutes tunes. We got better with time but always a little naive. A little too naive maybe. .. Every band has that tune, the one the people wants to listen shouting for it, sometimes saying 'hey, play the good one' (were the others bad?!?). Well we had this Jovanotti cover with delirious lyrics, it was plain shit, and yet for years people kept shouting us 'play Sakamoto!'. Here it is, your favorite shitburger. This gig was in Brancaleone, Roma, july the 28th 1990. Crowd attending: something like 50 people.
