In late autumn of 1999 Morrigu was called into life with the intention to unite gloomy and severe metal with a spheric tapestry of sounds and the celtic worldly wisdom. One year later first live experiences were gathered and during Easter 02 „forgotten embrace“ was recorded. This debut was released in January 03 and so it was time for another episode of live gigs to commence. After an intesive promotion of the debut in the first half of 03 and succesfull appearances (interviews/reviews) in various magazines the band decided to take aboard a second guitarist and so found Victor.
Thus Morrigu seems complete concerning the instrumental composition and further paved its musical path into the future. The following year was marked by the creation of „MMIV“, a demo that again harvested a thoroughly positive feedback, one song even making it into a Legacy sampler (Vol 26 & 37). A label however was not found. As nothing can dampen the spirits of Morrigu, new songs were nevertheless written and with October 05 the independent recording of „the flock of crane“ commenced. Now, after many an intesive month of work and one last finishing-touch in the renowned masteringstudio Cutting Room (Stockholm), we can finally let the crane commence his journey.
Inspired by the gray bleakness of the present began Morrigu, in the deep of summer 2007, to prepare new song ideas. Stylistically the band continue their own way. Moreover, the two new band members Marc and Merlin brought fresh wind to the sails. Under the working title "the niobium sky" began, in late autumn 2007, the recordwork in Frank Bornemann’s "Horus Sound Studio" and in the "Kick the Flame Studio" from Andy Schmidt (Disillusion). All involved did a great job and the work has been recently completed.
