Whether you know it or not there's a battle going on, you're in a fight. You have an enemy and he desperately wants to keep you from having all you were intended to have, ultimately to live forever with God. That's why you were created (yes you have a creator), you're not the product of evolution. He has a purpose for you, a reason for you being on this earth. The only way you'll ever find true fulfillment is to be in a relationship with Him, doing what you were created for. Here's the bad news all the wrong stuff you've done separates you from Him. Some people call it "sin". The bible says "all have sinned" ie: "nobody's perfect". It goes on to say that the penalty for your sin is death. Not just physical, but spiritual as well, being eternally separated from God. We're not saying it's fire and brimstone, but maybe it's just having this intense feeling of regret forever over what you could've had.
Now, here's the good news: Jesus Christ came in order to save you. He died so you wouldn't have to. Understand this, you can never be good enough to make it on your own, and you'll never be totally fulfilled without Him in your life. No relationship, ammount of money, possessions or popularity will ever give you that. Jesus said in His own words "I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in".
If you've never invited Him in, do it now. It doesn't have to be anything complicated. Just tell Him that you know you haven't been perfect and you recognize your need, you believe that He paid the price for you and that you accept Him as your Lord(Boss) and Saviour.
