About Me

I grew up right outside New York City a couple of blocks from the beach and lived in the city for a few years as and adult and there are allot of things about urban life that are attractive to me. I own a place on the lake near Put-in-Bay where I keep a couple of boats in the water I think as part of my way of trying to somehow duplicate some sense of life by the ocean. Lake Erie doesn't quite compete but it gets me close enough. I'm not into fishing but I love island hoping, hitting the boat-up bars and restaurants, meeting all the other boaters who are anchoring out just taking it easy, soaking up the sun, etc.
Besides that I rent a small place in the Short North where I get to try to have some positive impact on the homeless and other disadvantaged and beat-down types and am waiting for a new place that I recently bought in the area to finish being built. Being around the Short North is I think another way that helps me escape for some of the suburban white-breadedness of Columbus, plus I like being able to walk to places instead of driving.
Goodale Park is one of my favorite places in Columbus. Public transportation, library's and parks are a snippet to me of what society should be like. Free and open to all regardless of race, gender, sexual preference, income, how many piercings you have, etc. One of my favorite places in the world is Central Park, especially a section of the park called Bethesda - but I can tell you this story another time because right now I'm not even sure how I got on this topic.
By day I lead the marketing group for a large technology company headquartered near Chicago and spend most of my time working from home (or wherever I may be at that day) which I love for the flexibility that it offers.I'm an avid tennis player and play in league pretty much year round.I run too, like 3-5 miles at a time, not like marathons.I like CD101 concerts at the Newport and Little Brothers and going to Comfest.I like John Cusack movies.I like dogs but I don't have one.I think life should be lived in the moments, pursuing each one, and then over time those moments become life. Most people I know like me (which I guess is good).
I believe in God but have more questions than answers which somehow I think is OK because if I could understand all about him (her?) than he probably wouldn't really be all that big or, more likely, I would probably think I knew more than I really did.Yesterday I got a fortune cookie that said "the greatest danger could be your stupidity" and I didn't think that was a very nice thing to say.
