Segue-me à Capela did his first music performance in Abril 1999 in Aveiro, Portugal. A repertoire of Portuguese traditional music sung a capella captured the enthusiasm of the audience and the group have gone from strength to strength with live presentations, at Traditional Music Festivals in Portugal (Intercéltico do Porto, Cantigas do Maio, Sons Em Trânsito, Festival Músicas do Mundo em Sines, etc.) and Spain (Folk Segóvia, Etnosur, Huesca Folk, Magosta Folk, etc.). Whilst percussion instruments feature in the groups performance, Segue-me à Capela captures the spirit of Portuguese traditional music through voice, gesture, dress and simulating working environments, festivities, gaiety and enjoyment. The group successfully integrates contemporary and traditional themes without losing the ancient character of the original versions. The instruments of the group are their voices. The appeal of that most ancient human musical instrument, the human voice, has been the driving force behind what constitutes a revival of Portuguese traditional music. The percussions instruments, used follows Portuguese traditional culture, like the "adufe", or some scenic elements that are part together in their performances, increases the role of the voice itself, reinforcing the atmosphere either of drama or of feast, achieved by the singing. In February 2004 the group launched his first album, own label, which got excellent critics and was considered by the musical Newspaper Blitz one of the Best Portuguese Music Albums of the year. The Song "TU GITANA" has been nominated for the Best Folk/World Song by the Contemporary a Cappella Society of America in 2004. Segue-me à Capela have performed at the European Cultural Festival in Algiers in May 2006, invited by the Portuguese Embassy of Algiers.
