About Me

Daniel Furniss was always a dreamer.
The creative thinking and electronic music loving Daniel Furniss aka The Divide was born in Leeds in 1981. At around the age of 10 he became interested in rhythm sections on old acid house cassettes. Five years from then he attends the Helter Skelter Technodrome which blew his head clean off. It was at this moment in his life when he knew he had to utilize his creative ideas and twist the techno genre to express a myriad of emotions. Having been born in what he sees as the dawn of a new technological age Daniel started take his vision of the future and express them sonically. Having delusions of a cashless society, a dystopia, a broken world with and an apocalyptic end he decides to grab the techno beast by neck and use it to warn people of the new unfolding reality. One of which the powers that control divide those underneath. Others warned him, he was told to switch off and embrace lifes distractions, switch on the TV, go consume, to take the blue instead of the red pill, to choose to ignore, to be controlled instead of be free

10 Years on with releases on Construct Rhythm, Form, Jerk, Fine Audio, Betamax, Template & Blackout Audio Recordings Daniel still strives to keep above the distractions in life. To keep away from the bullshit we are fed from the cradle to the grave. With tracks played across the globe at events such as Awakenings, Oxygen Festival, I Love Techno by dj’s such as Dave Clarke, Cari Lekebusch, The Anxious and Patrick DSP. Daniel is currently pursuing a more purist sound. Having based his degree thesis on algorithms and aesthetics, Daniel believes in mathematical expression in music, maths is the vehicle and the soul is the hand of the programmer. One day, the machine will program itself, become self aware, the machines will speak.
Daniel also produces under the names Fernando, Black Jackal and collabs with David Graham for Stereofarm Productions. If you’re a filmmaker and need some audio work, music composition or post production click here
