Trance Dj and producer, celebrated as one of a small group of people present at the birth of the UK Trance scene.
Born in Newcastle On Tyne, Oberon moved to London in 1994, drawn by the sound and vibe of the newly emerging dance music genre known today as Trance.
He quickly made his mark by winning an up and coming DJ competition at the seminal Techno club Final Frontier, and soon found himself playing with some of the biggest names of the day..
Encouraged by his early success, the next step was a residency at the emerging Escape From Samsara, at The Fridge, Brixton, where he was able to develop his skills still further, working the entusiastic crowds with four hour warm up sets and punishing end of the night anthemic work-outs.
The residency at EFS lasted an amazing 7 years, during which time Oberon played to crowds of around 1500 clubbers every week and worked regularly alongside UK Trance heroes such as Lab4, K90, Nuw Idol, System 7, Beamish, Darren Shambhala and Mark Sinclair.
During these years the trance vibe spread throughout the UK and Oberon went with it- up and down the country playing guest slots at top clubs and festivals; the London scene continued to grow, with EFS and Pendragon setting the trend for huge Trance nights at Brixton Academy.
As Trance went worldwide, so did Oberon with a globe-trotting career headlining parties as far off as Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Croatia, Slovenia, Ibiza, Germany, Greece, France, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Uraguay and Argentina.
In 2002 it was time to move on- Oberon quit EFS and spent the next few years working new residencies at Logic, Antiworld and Catch 23 in London, along with Sheffield's Planet Zogg and Bristols' Ripsnorter.
Currently living in Argentina, Oberon is playing regularly alongside the countries No1 trance DJ Javier Bussola at magic and various other Trance events in Argentina and South America.
IN THE STUDIO.
A steady stream of releases (more than 30 so far) and a bunch of quality remixes have helped establish Oberon as one of Trance music's most innovative producers- his genre busting sound has crossed over through Trance, to Tech-Trance, Techno and Hard Dance. In the studio he has worked with respected artists such as Nuw Idol, Chris Liberator, and John Graham (Quivver).
With output on labels such as Well Wicked, Tinrib, UG (Hook Records), Chug 'n' Bump, Aura, Tide, VCF and his own labels Mesh, Square and S+M it's no surprise that Oberon's music has found it's way into the boxes of DJ's the world over- Christopher Lawrence and Tony De Vit are among the many DJ's who have used an Oberon tune on their mix cd's.
Many of Oberons' previous releases along with new material are now available as digital downloads on the new Obertunes Digital label, for more information visit www.myspace.com/obertunesdigital
