TotalMyspace.comBackground: Although I was born in Michigan, I grew up in a small town in eastern Kentucky. Elkhorn City, Kentucky was a great place to live. I attended ECHS from 1976-1980. Then I headed out for Morehead State University, and graduated in 1984. After a BA in Speech Communications and Theatre, I studied Rhetoric at Miami of Ohio and later I received a MA in secondary education/English from Northern Kentucky University.I'm single, after a messy break up and I have the most wonderful "adopted" daughter in the world, Jessie. She has given me the loves of my life, my two beautiful grandbabies --Rachael and Bradford. I now live in southern Georgia, where I teach. After 21 years of teaching, I still love the challenge of teaching and enjoy working with my little "monsters."My father was Paul Boyd, and he was member of Motor City Grass, Roy McGuinnes and the Sunnysiders, and the last band he played in was Roy Cobb and The Coachmen. He played bluegrass, country, and folk; he was a very good musican. He was one of the masters of the banjo. Without hesitation, bluegrass is one of my favorite styles of music. I miss my father every single day of my life, but his gift of music touches me every day.I play the guitar, poorly I might add. And every now and then, I fancy myself as a buding song writer. Let's face it, my songs sound more like bad poetry than good songs. So Skip Ewing has nothing to fear, unless he wants to die from laughter. In case you didn't know, I'm a school teacher--British Literature, American Literature,Speech and Drama. I feel entirely out of place at times. I have a minor in English and yet,I'm department chair in English and a member of the Leadership Team, either job will drive you crazy; and in my case crazier. I've been working on and revising and then starting over on the curriculum for the past two years.PETS: I have two Pets- One bassett hound, Mr. Dudley and one bird, Ms. Diegeo, a cockatoo. You can check out their photos under my pics. They have their own folders.Blessings: I have been blessed with several godchildren from Becky and Jessica. Becky's three co-godbabies are Harley, Gracie, and Joey. And Jessica has given us four little girls too love -- Ashley --4--, Cheyanne --3-- Skyler --2--, Summer 7 months old. I have been blessed with two beautiful grandchildren Rachael who is now 6 and Bradford who will turn 3 in the last part of May.LIKES: I LOVE to listen to music, watch plays, go to the movies, read, and hang with friends. I've been inspired to work more on my guitar and try my hand at composing... not that I would really want to share them... probably make most people laugh.Currently, I keep myself busy with school. I love living in Georgia and love the beautiful weather down here. I'm gettin ready to take an ART class.FAMILY: My nephew Lucas is out of the Navy and is attending Georgia SouthWestern University down here. My niece, Amanda, is married and living in Eastern Kentucky. I have a new niece named Rita. I can't believe that my brother and his wife are starting a family at this point, but SHE IS BEAUTIFUL. She looks like the Boyds, which is nice and she's smart like her daddy, but I bet she's got the Boyd temper to go with it. My sister, Marge is living in Florida with her husband and loving it. Most of the Boyd cousins, except Mattie, live in Eastern KY. I have one paternal aunt and one paternal uncle--Opal and David-- who still live in Eastern KY.I have lots of cousins.... but I love my little Wendy! Of course, I love me some ZANE, too. Zane is the coolest cousin around... and like me he's a little on the outspoken side.

My Interests

I love photography, music, guitar music, watching movies, playing my guitar and reading. I love to travel especially to areas that have beaches and ocean front views, and I will always love the mountains of Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee. After all these years, I still love the theatre, especially musicals.

I'd like to meet:

MUSIC: I would love to meet and talk with Skip Ewing about all the beautiful songs that he's written. How can anyone write such beautiful music? He seems to be one heck of a nice person and really seems to care not only about his art but about people and important issues too. After meeting Radney Foster, I would love to chat more with this talented songwriter. I can't believe all the great material that he has written, too. I would love to actually get to talk more to Keith Urban -- what a guitarist!Other people that I would like to meet include Jimmy Carter,Hugh Jackman, Sean Connery, Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Harrison Ford, and I promise that the next time I get to chat with Keanu Reeves I won't have a camera stuck up his face. I promise.I would love to make contact with fellow Elkhorn City High School classmates. It is always a blessing to catch up with my classmates. Also, I would lve to make contact with fellow lovers of music, especially country and bluegrass.

Music:

Skip Ewing and Radney Foster who are two of the best song writers around, also two of the best singers around. Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, The Eagles, The Beatles, The WHO, The Bee Gees, Rob Thomas, Carlos Santana,Sugarland, Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, Sara Evans, Paul McCartney, Brooks and Dunn, and Patsy Cline. This list really could go on for ever. There are some many talented musicans that I adore like Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton, and BB King. div align="center"

Heroes:

Thich Nhat Hanh for his teachings, his efforts to bring about peace in a world of conflict, and for his words of wisdom from which all of us can and should learn. Jimmy Carter has always been one of my heroes, not only for his efforts to broker peace in the Middle East, but his countless Humanitarian acts. Although, I do not understand this war, I am proud of my former students who are serving this nation in a time of War. Every parent who cares enough about their child to help them stay in school and become successful. The Dalai Lama for his efforts to bring about peace in Tibet. Mother Teresa for teaching courage and true love by helping the poor. Dr. Martin Luther King for his teachings and his courage. I don't know why I haven't thought of this before, my father. Paul Boyd was a wonderful man and my best friend. Like all parents and children, I had my moments when I tested his love, but he loved me anyway. Every day, his words of love and compassion come back to me.
