About Me

Thanks for taking the time to check out my music and profile. I started playing guitar in 1991, and it didn't take long for music to become a virtually all consuming passion. When I wasn't playing along with classic metal albums or attempting to write one of my own metal epics, I was jamming with friends playing a variety of covers. I would also occassionally teach guitar or bass to friends. Early '97 some friends (John and Joe Arnold, currently of Project 1) who I had jammed with for many years previously, asked me to join their band- Second Coming. We put out a demo and played at some clubs in Orange county, L. A. county, and Riverside county. We were one of the opening bands for Flotsam and Jetsam a couple times. In 1998 I recorded the Soulforge project, a collection of 7 tracks that few people have heard (until now), because I felt my singing wasn't up to par. "the Bitter End" was one of those songs. In 1999 I got a back injury at work and playing guitar seemed to aggravate it. From late 1999 to sometime in 2001 I actually quit playing altogether in an effort to try to heal myself and to rediscover who I was without musician / songwriter as part of my self-image. I took up yoga, and began seeing a chiropractor. During the 2 years I wasn't playing I needed to find some alternative artistic outlets. I took up writing, drawing, painting and photography. I also learned to hear music differently, as a non-musician again. Eventually I felt ready to play guitar again. Though I had played for about 8 years before and even though I had written over 50 songs up to then, 2 years of not playing made me feel like a beginner again. By 2003 I was starting to write riffs again and put songs together, only this time around most of the songs didn't have lyrics and they weren't conforming to any traditional song templates or songwriting formats. I began writing in a more free-flowing, sponateous kind of way. Most songs I write now are the result of me recording myself jammin and piecing the good riffs together into songs. "Electric Pimp Heaven", "More Than Just Coincidence", "Dragon's Blood", "Beltane Handfasting" and some of the lead guitar work in "the Bitter End" are all a result of this method of songwriting.Other than writing and recording my own music and jammin with friends, my other hobbies include spending time with my beautiful wife, writing, working out, reading, photography, art, hanging out with friends and family, going to concerts, movies, video games, being out in nature, seeking fun, adventure, deeper spirituality and mind expansion (among other things). If you're a musician from the Orange County area who digs the music and is interested in jammin' or joining the band or if you're a band looking for a guitarist message me on myspace or send an email to [email protected]. Ultimately my goal is for my music to be heard by the masses...also it would be pretty damn sweet to be able to make enough money doing music to not have to work a real job anymore. Currently I work full time instructing special ed students. What I love about working at a school is that I get a lot of time off for vacations and holidays. Usually that's when I'm able to find time to arrange and record my music (and I get to revert back to rockin and rollin all night and partying every day like a true rocker should). I have a Bachelors degree in psychology, and an ACE personal trainer certification. For cds, bookings, inquiries, guitar lessons, to offer me a record deal (though that's probably just a pipe dream ;) leave me a message here or send an email to [email protected]
