About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor

The debut album "Once They Called Me A Prodigy..." out in Finland on January 30!!! Soon also in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and the Netherlands.
They call their music Actionblues. Daddy Giljoteen has based their style on American roots-music and managed to create their own unique vibe by adding some Finnish mentality and modern influences to the mix. The passion and soul of Actionblues manifests itself best in the songs written by the band.
As a group, Daddy Giljoteen has been searching its musical expression since 2002. As individuals, you could say that the fellows have been preparing for this band since the day they were born. And finally, with Daddy Giljoteen, those countless hours of training and hard work are paying off.
In these days, you can rarely catch the kind of vibes Daddy Giljoteen creates on stage. Performing is an overwhelming experience to the guys and to the listener. You can hear, see and feel the Actionblues from the second the show takes off.
There is no better word than “ecstasy” to describe the stage-act of Daddy Giljoteen. As a classical rock-trio, they have the ability to make their music sound bigger than most bands with mere studio musicians that seem to be stuck on a loop. The band has a great sense of dynamics in their playing and with passion, soul and some virtuosity you can indeed make miracles. Daddy Giljoteen is a living proof of that.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Taylor
Instrument: Guitar, Vocals, Balalaika, Harmonica

A guitarist, a singer and the author of Daddy Giljoteen. There are only a few guitarists of international calibre in Finland, and Taylor is certainly one of them. Although he has knowledge and respect for the old blues and the tradition of roots-music, Taylor prefers to use his talent in a search for his own way to play it, rather than just copying what others did in the past.

His vocals are strong and skilful, featuring dynamics from a preacher-gone-cuckoo to a tear-jerking-ballad-crooner. Also as a songwriter, he has his own unique mixture of heart aching honesty, dark sense of humour and catchy melodies. There had to be huge dues for these songs. Well, good for us, Taylor was willing and able to pay them.

PdJ
Instrument: Bass
[email protected]

PdJ has travelled this road with Taylor from the beginning. As an unconditional, even unmerciful musical visionary, PdJ’s ideas of music, business and creating, have made a great difference in the actions of Daddy Giljoteen.

As a bass-player, PdJ knows his rhythm and blues, the basic bar-band stuff, but he also likes to take it a step further. Specially on stage, in a trio, there is plenty of room for PdJ’s sound-experiments. PdJ’s bass takes you on a ride from the shimmer of the hottest desert to the oily garages, full of unknown machinery. Sometimes the ride can get dangerous, but sure as hell never boring or conventional.

Jan Pethman
Instrument: Drums and percussions

Jan Pethman came to the orchestra as a heaven sent in summer 2007. Right from the beginning, he has been taking part in creating the new sound of DG.

Jan gets his inspiration from the New Orleans' sweaty clubs, deep inside the jungle and the sweet roots music. Besides being a brilliant drummer, he's a wild one. Jan has an exceptional gift to play different kinds of music, and he has become a very important part of the Daddy Giljoteen band. This guy will make your ass move!
