Ehsan Faridafshar:
Born in Tehran, Iran on the 12 of July 1979.
Ehsan has a diploma in painting from Soore Art High School in Tehran (1998) and a bachelor’s degree in photoraphy from Azad Universiy in Tehran (2002). He started painting at the age of 13 and has taught art and photography during high school level. He has also written and directed two short films in high school level?. Ehsan has written two books, the first in 1997 entitled "Harfhaye shabane" (Night talks) and the second in 1998 entitled "Nimeye ghom shodeye man" (The forgotten half of me). Ehsan was the art designer for the International Fajr
Theater Festival in Tehran . Currently he is remaining work in india.
He left Iran to explore what he could be without the pressures and restrictions of Iranian culture. Somewhat spontaneously, he came to India with a friend at the age of 24. After 8 months in Pune, he traveled north to Rajasthan where he had a powerful experience. He felt totally re-set in Rajasthan. "My eyes found some freedom in this time. I saw nature and my surroundings in a totally new way. I was so happy there-- moving, sweating, flying..." During this month he made many photography pieces. The story was focused on the culture of that place which was so intensely unique for him. After returning to Pune, he started making exhibitions of his new work in Pune and surrounding areas. He went down south to Mysore and had a similar experience-- this time his percpetions were affected by an intense love relationship he had developed in Pune. With this heigtened sensitivity, he was much more focused on people rather than nature. The object of his work during the first year of his relationship were often people used as symbols to express the many emotions that he himself was experiencing.He started to work as a freelance photographer for Pune Times.
