About Me

Reclusive painter, see all my work here at www.sararay.com buy a poster and support my bad habits, you wont be disappointed . I specialize in Hot Rods, Pin ups, and World War II scenes . You’ve seen my artwork on record covers, magazines, Fender and Gretsch Guitars ,T Shirts, posters, art /military museums etc.Need something custom done? E mail me.Im most likely found locked up in my studio drinking coffee and hopefully painting. Spend my free time trying to get a ride in a stuka ,hiding in the woods with my pal the angry stag and finding parts for my 53 Nailhead. If i could have anything today,it would be a cabin in a damp rainy wood deep in a far away land,a couple goats for company, lots of bear traps beware,so if you have old growth forest land youd like to trade for art or a couple hot rods, drop me a line,im ready.Want to know more-check the website-I was born around 980 AD, sorry I don’t have a better date my calendar was a stick. I was on a voyage with my cousin Leif Eriksson when we got lost chasing his “lucky” hat that blew off around Iceland. We met some new people and planned ..ing a brewery in the new territory. I was teaching the natives to make beer and fermented salmon when Leif took off after his hat again and forgot me. I waded out into the ocean and froze into a block of ice. I believe I was displayed at Coney Island until I thawed out around 1942, the same day a German U boat attacked the eastern seaboard, which I thought it was my long ship returning for me. I talked my way onto the submarine in exchange for a bag of Nathan’s hot dogs. The U boat ended up in a shipyard in France for repairs. I operated a tank wash and detail shop near Berlin until a problem in 1945 closed business. With just my accordion and some salted Herring I hid to sleep in a pile of ammo crates to avoid the Russians. When I woke I was on an American B 17 headed back to the east coast to be scrapped into pre-fab housing. I was quickly put in a military prison for not having any identification, an accordion stuffed full of Reich marks and a thick Norwegian accent. I was able to escape by using half a pickled herring as an explosive and stole the COs staff car. I drove straight to the West coast to try to find a new Long ship thinking I was headed east and jot a job tattooing down at the Pike.Im still stuck in Long Beach scanning the port everyday for the sails of my returning countrymen and fermenting salmon in my backyard. .. ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------- A Few Paintings from the collection.................................................. ....

My Interests

My Interests? Ragnarok, bring it on.Gotterdammerung, were waiting.Plenty I don’t have time for but here is a partial list of what i spend my free time chasing- ART. Lowbrow down and dirty art. Spending my days painting away from the things of man,yet periodically returning for some heavy metal lightning. Acorns,Oak trees. Ancient history, WWII,WWI, War birds, Hot Rods, Lead Sleds, Vintage Motorcycles, Panzers, Bombers, Stukas,The Flying Circus,Hat in the Ring,Lothar and Manfred,Erwin,Sepp and Guenther, tanks tanks tanks-did I mention tanks-Slowly turning my 53 into a tank-yeaaah...Last count I have ridden in or driven 12 types of tanks, its not enough. If it’s loud fast and requires a tetanus shot I probably like it. The 1940 isn’t loud or fast but does require a tetanus shot. Antique and rare books, just got an original copy of 'the Devils Guard' and no you cant borrow it. Lost arts-Albrecht Durer is my co-pilot, (and Hannah Reitsch) Wandering around museums, and old libraries, drinking with the vets, Digging things up (with shovels),I also need to travel to keep sane and visit military museums around the world ,The Imperial War Museum is my Disneyland , if they let me back in after my last visit fiasco, Don’t let me drink and go into a tank exhibit-bad mix. Actually anytime I have a few too many I start rambling about Stalingrad and making people nervous. Leather pants.Short walks on cold abandned beaches, survivalist camping with my Ipod, getting the neighborhood crows and ravens to eat out of my hand,Being left the hell alone to read the books i hoard.Tank matinance, down payment on an island off Gamla Stan,Prussia-what the hell happened?Ill get you back but poor Poland has proabably had enough.. Flights or drives to anywhere I’ve never been before. Coney Island anytime, ill be there. Gun ranges, heavy metal camping~ you had to be there. Silent Movies are still my favorite but silent people are made of solid gold. If I could be anywhere it would be a private island in Sweden or Norway with a log cabin, my library collection, a Viking ship tied up on the dock, and a pack of vicious wolves to destroy trespassers. Pickelhaubes, pointillism, poltergeists and Pontius Pilate. Collecting more old crap and dust than i have room for, but somebody’s got to save this stuff. Dead generals, war heroes, self destructive deceased artists, Black Sabbath, Taxidermy, Harpsichords, Frederick the Great, Edelweiss (the beer and the flower), Hermann of Cherusi my life for you, Venom, the cemeteries of Paris, Gun collecting, Luftwaffe, Choppers,Bobbers, Black Metal, coyotes, iced coffee, Opera,Leibach,Black lights, fog machines, opossums.I also trade art for WWII items (hint hint people )I dream that I was a tank driver in my last life...7000 miles in a Sturmgeschutz baby! LOS!..

I'd like to meet:

Where do i start with this one,Frank Buckles,Neanderthals where did they all go,I occasionally see shaved versions of them usually wearing a motorhead shirt, hot, they would be the only ones able to survive the nuclear winter, hopefully they just went underground,if anyone is going to push the button its them.Fellow artists,People who love art,the kind that not only appreciate it but cant live without it.Collectors and preservers of the past. The motorheads who love hot rods because theres gasoline in their veins not because they wanna be like mike (nothin personal mike).Rat Rodders ( Restoring is Boring ).Fellow travellers & history buffs.WWII students and european history buffs/collectors/reenactors .Marlon Brando, see you soon.Sepp and Uncle Erwin ,were having a beer in that big oktoberfest in the sky,Hans if i could be only half the hero you were, most everyone i wanna meet died before 1946 so ill catch em later (If you only faked your death drop me a line and ill bring the donuts) Im a bit of a recluse and spend all my time workin or might be out of the country,so dont be offended if i dont get back to you right away.Dont know where i am? Im proabably drinking coffee here .........................A Couple disclaimers for visitors to my page- A note on leaving comments :Disclaimer 1-dont take it personally or get all butt hurt if you send me a comment with a giant picture or seizure inducing flashing images that take up the whole screen and i dont post it,i dont hate you (maybe) but i do hate the oversized comment graphics, they drive me insane.Lets all play nice.Disclamier 2- I dont like to add bands-i dont want you sending me a hundred emails about a show your doing on the other side of the country,if your a band i cant live withoutGWAR,,Amon Amarth,Carnivore,Pantera,Black Sabbath,Monster Magnet,Motorhead, etc...i already know about the show and ill be there.I also dont have time to go to your bands page and wait for your songs to load to hear if you suck or not.So even if your great i may not add you. Here is a Kleenex in advance. .. Movies:

"Where are the horses? We are the horses" "ROMMEL! I Read your book!" "You know, by God I actually pity those poor bastards we’re going up against. By God, I do. We’re not just going to shoot the bastards, we’re going to cut out their living guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We’re going to murder those lousy Hun bastards by the bushel. " Dear Françoise, I am a german soldier" " Why do all you guys sit on your helments? So we don't get our balls blown off" "We've had good deals before, but this is the best one yet. This is great. I don't ever wanna go back. I found a home in the army" "I'm afraid it's rather a small medal, Willi, but it's the highest Germany can give" " I will show you how a true Prussian officer fights- Then I will show you, where the Iron Crosses grow " "My instruments tell me I'm flying upside-down 500 feet below lake Michigan, but they must be wrong, because I can see the lights of the field, run for cover, I'm commin' in! " "Hey Pop, why wasn't you born a beautiful dame? Or even an ugly one? "Our column has made the farthest advance! We have outrun the other Panzers! The eyes of Germany are on us! The Fuhrer himself will decorate me. We have done it Conrad! We have done it! " "Would you be shocked if I put on something more comfortable" "I shall destroy the enemy there, at the water's edge. Believe me, gentlemen, the first 24 hours of the invasion will be decisive. For the Allies as well as the Germans, it will be the longest day... " "I've never seen a wildthing feel sorry for itself. A bird will have fallen frozen dead from a bough, without ever having felt sorry for itself. " "It is the sworn duty of all officers to try to escape." "They've got us surrounded! ,Yeah the poor bastards" " 'The Statue of Liberty is kaput' - that's disconcerting" We live in the trenches out there. We fight. We try not to be killed, but sometimes we are. That's all. " "What are we supposed to use? Harsh language?" "what in the wide wide world of sports is goin on here!?..
