Pigeon hops on plane

Categories: NewsCall it the pigeon's revenge.Somehow the bird got inside a Continental Express plane this morning at Newark Liberty International Airport and did not take kindly to a female flight attendant who tried to shoo it away. The bird headed for the attendant instead of the door, hitting her in the head and drawing blood, according to a passenger. The 40 passengers aboard Flight 2775 to Grand Rapids, Mich. were delayed an hour and 19 minutes from their scheduled 6:45 a.m. departure because a new flight attendant had to be found, according to a spokeswoman for ExpressJet Airlines, which operates the flight for Continental Airlines."Apparently, it didn't want to fly itself,'' said Kristy Nicholas, the airline's spokeswoman. "It wanted to fly on Continental Express.''The flight attendant -- the only one aboard -- was sent to the infirmary and it took awhile to find a replacement. In the meantime, someone else got the pigeon off the plane."It's unusual,'' said Nicholas, but not unheard of. She speculated the bird may have flown into the jet way and then flew inside the cabin.
