About Me

First of all thank you for your interest in my music.I was born in New Zealand 59 years ago.It seems like I have had about 5 lives within that time because I have done so many different things, and yet everyday seems like the first and always a new and exciting challenge.
I am always thankfull that I can do what I want with my life, moblity and freedom combined with passion for life and you cant loose. I began playing music at the age of 9, I still have that Ukelele too.I joined my first band when I was only 12.The other members were much older but I had what the wanted with the Rock’n Roll look and vocals. The years following I played with many others just semi pro until the age of 21 I began playing for a living.I had just married, well that was 1969 and still married to the same lady, not bad for a musician.Travelling with a band did not fit too well, at the age of 25 with a business partner, I built a Night Club and began a career as a promoter. This took a few years then I worked in the Hotel Industry with Management in entertainment.
It wasnt too long and I had had enough of the whole game, my family life was suffering and so was my health.
In the early 70’s we dropped out, or in, depending on your point of view, and moved to a hippy commune.I made a living in the district as an Electricain as I was trained for.Leone did the mother things and she ans 2 friends set up a clothing business, making and importing clothes from India and other places.
By 1980 we needed a change so we , that is Leone and I Clinton and Simone all moved to Sydney Australia and lived at Kings Cross , the heart of Sydneys nigtht life.We had a very interesting time there, but one year was enough for many reasons. We returned home to the commune, and our house. The Commune was a more or less forgotten village set in the bush on the banks of a huge harbour and some 20 miles from the coast.Yes we could catch huge fish at our door step.We began our clothing business again with me with full involvment with marketing and so on.
Came 1984 ans we were ready to move our children into a bigger world and a better education. It was Leones choice to move to Brisbane in Queensland Australia. She wanted a business career and was tired of baking bread !.I still amaze at what we did there, organic vegetable garden, like 2 metre tomato plants..yes tomatoes.!!oh sure we grew the "mexican" variety too.. those days are gone now.But we do still make our own beer and amazing red wine, with no hangovers !!..you should try it
Once Clinton and Simone had moved away to there own places and partners Leone and I wanted to escape again for the city and the suburbs. So I found our current land and over 5 years we both built the house that we love so much.
Now that all that is up to the mark I have had time to reach out to my music again. This is the best time for me because I do it for the absolute love of it all.Just recently set up a recording room and learning a new skill. I am giging too with various other people, having the time of my life. The opportunity to make new friends like you in MySpace has been so good.People with a common interest and not just music but real human things too.
So with that I wish you a happy day, and thank you for your interest. If you write to me, I will always reply .Be good to yourself !

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: ozarena.com.au
Band Members: Just me one these recordings, but I gig with various other musicians at times
Influences: My Earliest influences were people like Elvis,Eddie Cochrane,Bill Haley and all the rest, then came the mid 60's influences of The Beatles, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd.Later on I was more interested in Blues music. With people like Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson being my main interests.Although following on with the new wave of electric blues with Clapton,Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal ,and many more also became my influences. These days there are so many, each with their own rendition of the same scales.I never ceases to amaze me how they all sound so different.Of course some do because of tuning, like Albert Collins for one.I would say that I lean towards a swing/jazz blues feel more than anything.
Sounds Like: Well, instrumentally I would not have a clue who I sound like, maybe you can tell me ?Vocally I have a reasonble range and can sing more than one style, soon I will have some carefully chosen songs [2] for you.
Record Label: Shack Records..made in my shack !
