Dance Clips
New dance clips always in rotation. For now, enjoy these 2 from BREAKIN THE CYPHER, a show I was in last October with Kujo, Catfox, Peppa, and many others at the Los Angeles Henry Ford Theater.

This first clip was a loosely choreographed/improv piece (choreography by Amy Campion) to my poem "Lost In Musical Sensation". I'm particularly proud of this one, not only for the message it sends & deep meaning it embodies, but also because I finally received the opportunity to somehow combine at least 2 of the things I love to do (dancing & writing) and perform it for a live audience. It was also reviewed in the LA Times as "One of the programs most distinctive achievements, Lost In Musical Sensation traced the transition between self-doubt and self-empowerment." The second clip contains a performance with THE GET DOWN DOLLS in a piece I co-choreographed, which also received a positive review in the LA Times. Happy viewing...more coming soon! - Pan

"Always be a first-rate version of yourself,
instead of a second-rate version of somebody else."

R.I.P. HEROS & SHEROS:This is a little memorial section to honor some friends of mine that are not with us anymore & to help keep their memory alive. If you take time out to read this, please check out their dance clips as well. Besides being exceptional human beings, they all also happen to be highly skilled dancers that served as an inspiration to many. Hopefully these little snippets of them will inspire you too. May they all live on in our hearts. Thank you for your time.

SAYAKO "TAPU" GOYA
Machine Gone Funk Watch Clip
Born 11/25/1982 - Departed 6/14/2005

Tapu & I had quite a few memorable experiences together, but the time spent with her that stands out the most is when we got to work together as a duo team. We were flown to Tokyo to work together & battle there in a 2on2 popping competition. Tapu was one of the most sweetest, humble, & gentle girls I have ever had the pleasure to know. She should always be *remembered* not just as a *beautiful* female popper / dancer / role model to other aspiring female dancers, but as a phenomenal, caring, unique, and intelligent person that inspired everyone where ever she went. She resonates in my life as a perfect example of someone who always had an optimistic passion for dancing. You could always see that whenever she got down, check the clip above (from a popping battle at Homeland). She was so dope!!! One of the best females in the history of Popping! Tapu, the memory of you will never fade. :)

Steven Nichols aka "SKEETER RABBIT"
Electric Boogaloos Visit Site | Watch Clip
Popping since 1978 - Departed 5/12/2006

I really can't think of anything to say that is better than what was written by Fabel. The full version & indepth article describing the background of Skeet's legacy can be found at "The Electric Boogaloos" website (link above), but I will just post my favorite part of it here. What I do want to say though is that I miss Skeet very much, & I will continue to work on my dancing even harder, especially since those were among his last words/advice to me. Alright here we go, an excerpt from "Message From The Electric Boogaloo Family" written by Fabel:
Skeeter Rabbit's legendary status and pioneering individuality continues to inspire and shape the "Funkstyles" and Hip Hop communities worldwide. As a senior member of the Electric Boogaloos, he relentlessly performed and passed on the dance forms "popping" and "locking" to younger generations. Scientifically presenting formulas and equations, he helped to preserve the sacred Electric Boogaloo blueprint. Skeet was a brilliant being. His energy and passion for artistic expression was contagious and set the standards for many.A true folk hero and a soldier of culture, Skeet's influence lives through those of us who continue to strive towards a cultural imperative. We don't die, we multiply! Skeeter Rabbit, K.C., C.C. Rider, Steven Nichols, we will miss you tremendously and you will always live in our hearts. May God have mercy on your soul, grant you peace and comfort your family and friends.

GARY "LOCKIN FOSSIL" SWITZER
Homeland Cultural Center Watch Clip
Departed June/2006

This is really sad because I got used to seeing Gary at all dance events & everytime I showed up at Homeland. He was a Homeland "regular", always there every week willing to teach others for free the art form of Locking that he loved so much. His passion for dancing was so strong & pure that it kept him going & glowing with positivity during his 6 year battle with Cancer. He is a huge inspiration to many! Not only was he a huge supporter of street dancing but he was also an active participant of charitable events & always reached out for others to come support along with him. He was so down to earth, always willing to chop it up about the history & fundamentals of Locking to anyone & everyone. Wherever there was music, there was Gary...groovin'. His trademark color was purple, & you could always find him rocking out in dance circles entertaining the crowd playfully with his handkerchief in a true, original Locking fashion. I am so glad that I got to see him one last time, when he made the trip to France for a dance event called Just Debout, where hundreds gather to dance & compete. He came all by himself, just to see and be a part of it all. I truly owe Gary so much for always taking the time to help & educate me about the world of Locking through his eyes. He always made everything make so much sense in such a light & fun way. He will be missed forever!
