MACHINE GONE FUNK began in the Summer of 2003. Since then, it has become a U.S. premier Popping/Funk Styles urban dance crew of the younger generation. Beginning as a group of friends from the San Francisco Bay Area, practicing together, they eventually decided it would be a good idea to form a group. Bringing in other friends over time; now the members are from various places around the San Francisco Bay Area, LosAngeles, San Diego, and Japan.
The 10 active poppers and 1 b-boy are: Bionic, Nikodemus, Kazoo, Boogaloo Pimp, Tony Styles, J Smooth, Pharcyde, Kid Boogie, Junior Boogaloo, Toshi (Japan), and Kana(Japan). Each with their own way of portraying the dances and technical foundations they have been studying; they continue to maintain their own identities and creativity. Resulting in a very mixed collection of individuals, leading edge choreography concepts, and the breaking of various boundaries within themselves and the dances they portray.
The group has many influences and teachers, including the famed dance groups the "Electric Boogaloos" and the "Demons of the Mind aka PT3000", the same people who taught and influenced Pop stars like Michael Jackson, Mia, Janet Jackson, Missy Elliot, and more, with many other local and worldwide teachers among MGF's mentors.
MGF presently displays their skills all around the globe: performing, teaching, and competing at top levels. If there is a large street dance competition somewhere in the U.S. or in other countries like France, UK, and Japan, there should be at least one member from the group attending.
