Calexico & Peter (Los Alamos) at Buenos Aires (5/10/2007) Dreamin' Man (Neil Young) By Dr Chancebegan playing together towards the end of 2004, less with a defining vision of what they thought a band should sound like, than with a violent need to create music as much as possible with like-minded people. coming from backgrounds as disparate as bluegrass, hardcore, punk, blues, and klezmer, their music reconciles the differences between these genres while at the same time creating something definitevely new.in 2005, los alamos released their first studio album, the self-released "no se menciona la soga en casa del ahorcado", which led rolling stone south america to dub los alamos "the most important new band in argentina", among other critical praise.the following year, los alamos recorded an ep of covers and live songs called "emboscada" that was simultaneously released in brazil and argentina. Following this release, los alamos began to tour extensively; first, throughout argentina, and later to uruguay and chile, playing with bands like the ganjas, perrosky, and guiso. in august, their first album was voted one of the 13 best international debut albums by the brazilian music journal "bizz", and soon after they performed with patti smith, daft punk, tv on the radio, the yeahyeahyeahs and the beastie boys (festival bue) before playing a few small, private shows with devendra banhart and, later, the dead brothers (switzerland). the year ended with the recording of a soundtrack for the american film "hide" by k.c. bascombe, with the band contributing two previously-released songs from "no se menciona la soga," plus three new songs written in the studio that december.2007 began with a show in buenos aires with the evens, the new band of ian mckaye, and then a tour of brazil with jamaican dub legend lee scratch perry and the french band the film, where the band played to audiences of over 15,000. after a few more trips throughout south america, they enclosed themselves in the studio to record their much awaited sophmore album, "el fino arte de la venganza". this record is the culmination of over 3 years of nonstop work, exploding with the raw power that their live performances are so acclaimed for...................................................... .....................................................Los Alamos empezaron a tocar juntos a principios del 2004, sin una visión definitiva de como una banda debería sonar pero con una violenta necesidad de crear música. Provenientes de ámbitos tan dispares como el bluegrass,hardcore,punk,blues y klezmer, su musica reconcilia las diferencias entre estos generos tan dicimiles y al mismo tiempo crea un sonido definitivamente nuevo.En el 2005 lanzaron su primer album de estudio"No Se Menciona la Soga en Casa del Ahorcado," elegidos por criticos y lectores de la edicion sudamericana de la revista Rolling Stone como banda revelación, junto con otras criticas favorables para la banda.En Agosto del 2006 grabaron un EP llamado "Emboscada" que incluye covers (Neil Young/Spacemen3/East river pipe/Friends of Dean Martinez) y canciones en vivo, simultaneamente lanzado en Brasil y Argentina. Siguiendo éste lanzamiento, la banda empezó a girar, primero por Argentina para luego ir a a Uruguay y Chile, tocando con bandas locales como The Ganjas, Guiso, y Perrosky. El primer album fue votado como uno de los 13 mejores debuts internacionales por la revista Brasilera especializada en musica Bizz, junto con bandas como Arctic Monkeys, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah y Wolfmother. Poco despues participaron en el festival Bue en Buenos Aires, donde tambien tocaron Patti Smith, Daft Punk, TV on the Radio, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, y Beastie Boys. Un mes despues tocaron en un show sorpresa y privado con Devendra Banhart y tambien compartieron escenario con The Dead Brothers de Suiza. Terminaron el 2006 con la grabación de un sountrack para la roadmovie americana Hide, del realizador K.C.Bascombe.EL 2007 comienzó con un show en Buenos Aires con The Evens, la nueva banda de Ian Mckaye (Fugazi) y Amy Farina (The Warmers) para luego salir de gira por Brasil con la leyenda Jamaiquina del dub Lee Scratch Perry y la banda Francesa The Film, donde se enfrentaron a grandes audiencias. Volvieron a Chile para presentarse en la fiesta aniversario del sello independiente Algo Records y hacer algunos shows solos con gran concurrencia. Ahora se encuentran encerrados en los estudios Quark, registrando su tercero y mas esperado album "El Fino Arte de la Venganza." Esta grabación es la culminación de 3 años de constante trabajo, explorando el poder y la energía de sus tan aclamados shows en vivo.
