Weedbeat was founded in 2002 . The Soundsystem`s primary target is to promote real Jamaican Reggae- and Dancehall. Coming from the east of Austria (Wiener Neustadt and Vienna), Selecta Pablo aka Reggie P. and MC Danny Ranks (formerly patwa-chanting singjay for the Austrian group Raggamaffia) are spreading the dancehall-vibez all over the country. Weedbeat especially put the focus on the foundation of the far spread jamaican music-styles such as deep Rootz, Rub-A-Dub, Rockers and early Dancehall from the mid-eighties up to the mid-nineties. Of course Weedbeat is also promoting the "latest news" from Jamaica as one part of their energetic dances - so you can say that Weedbeat stands for the whole musical showcase of the heart of the caribbean. Weedbeat existiert seit 2002 und versteht sich als klassischer Reggae-Dancehall-Sound. Mit Selecta Pablo aka Reggie P. werkt an den Turntables ein wahrer Veteran der österreichischen Reggaeszene. Mit DJ Danny Ranks steht ihm ein kongenialer Partner zur Seite, der am Micro nicht zuletzt durch die Beherrschung des jamaikanischen Patwa-Slangs sowie spontanen Einfallsreichtum glänzt.Ursprünglich als Backing der Österreicischen Formation „Raggamaffia“ (Danny Ranks & Highhead) in Erscheinung getreten, gelten die eigenständigen Weedbeat-Auftritte mittlerweile als Garant für solide Foundation-Music aus Jamaica. Die Stärke von Weedbeat ist aber wohl die Fähigkeit, das gesamte jamaicanische Reggae- und Dancehall-Spektrum abzudecken und dementsprechend abwechslungsreich sind auch die Weedbeat-Dances.
