Born Juan Luis Morera and Llandel Veguilla, the duo of Wisín & Yandel, respectively, are a bright hot comet of rhythm and dynamic energy making their mark in a genre that fuels today's hottest musical movement, Reggaeton.
Hailing from Puerto Rico and crediting their musical influences to Reggaeton pioneers Vico C and El General, this dynamic duo puts their own particular stamp on the world of Reggaeton, making them not only original, but a breath of fresh air with insightful lyrics and a drive for excellence that leaves no room for mediocrity.
Bonded by a lifelong friendship, a passion for music, and their outstanding talent, are what distinguishes them from the rest. Their most recent album “Pa'l Mundo - Special Edition”, which features 2 CDs and a DVD with numerous hits by the duo including: ‘Burn It Up' with R. Kelly, ‘Llamé Pa' Verte', ‘Mírala Bien',‘Rakata', ‘Llora Mi Corazón' with La Secta, and the new smash hit, ‘Pam Pam' as the first Latin act to placed 4 songs (“Llamé Pa'Verte”, “Noche De Sexo”, “Rakata” and “Mayor Que Yo”) on the Top 10 of the ‘Latin Chart' during the same week. “Pa'l Mundo” remained in the Top 10 of the Billboard charts for more than 50 consecutive weeks and is still going strong with (need to get the song that are on the charts).
Wisin & Yandel have raised the bar and set the standard as the first rappers nominated to the prestigious Billboard Awards, with all their albums reaching gold or platinum in all major markets.
At the 2006 Latin Grammy Awards, Wisin & Yandel impressed the audience with a spectacular performance and production of the international smash hit “Pam Pam.” They also were invited to perform at the Latin Billboards early in 2006 and received rave reviews for a mega presentation of their hit song, “Rakata.”
This year was a very busy and productive one for Wisin & Yandel. They established their own record label, W&Y Records; produced and recorded “Los Vaqueros,” an album featuring Tony Dize, Gadiel, Franco El Gorilla and El Tio, artists signed to their label. The album was released in November 2006 and immediately took over the radio airplay, shooting the promotional single “Pegao” to the top 40 in the Hottest Latin Songs category.
The United Nations also invited Wisin & Yandel to perform at The Show of Peace International Concert in Rome, Italy along with internationally renowned recording artists. The Show will be broadcasted globally and culminates with the performance of “One Day”, the single for peace. Produced by Swizz Beatz, the track will include top headliners such as Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Sean Paul, Cassidy, Wyclef, Sean Garrett, Chris Brown, EVE, Bone Thugs and Harmony, Floetry, Lyfe Jennings, and Mario. The single will also feature a never-before-heard intro by the late Tupac Shakur.
They end this very productive year with three Premio Lo Nuestro nominations for Best Album of the Year with “Pal Mundo”, Best Song of the Year with “Llamé para verte” and “Best Artist of the Year”.
As an added bonus in their strive for excellence, Wisin & Yandel are men with a purpose and a social conscience. They both donate their time and name to foundations and charities including the Carlos Arroyo Association and the Home for Children Living with AIDS, among others.
Equally important are their small town values, which Wisin & Yandel believe is their driving force and center. Their families, which have always supported and encouraged them, provide the strong pillar for these values.
