I am here for Friends

About Me

.. I love being out on the water. Learning about boats has been a hobby for me since I was a little girl. My grandmother worked for the Department of Agriculture in Washington D.C. While she worked during the day, I explored the various museums of the Smithsonian Institution. My favorites were the Museums of American History and Aerospace. There I learned about the wonders of engineering, and became faschinated with the way buildings, bridges, aircraft and especially boats were designed and built. Later in life, I became an aircraft mechanic in the Alaska Air National Guard, andspent twelve years working on every type of aircraft airframe I could lay my hands on. My mother's poor health forced me to retire early from the Guard, but I turned my fascination for all that is mechanical towards the marine industry and I learned about boating electrical and electronic systems. Well, that sums me up pretty neatly. I work in the fishing industry these days, and I am happy as a clam.

My Interests

Boating, camping, cross country skiing, running with my three legged dog, snowboarding, and karaoke. I enjoy renovating recreational vehicles and old boats.

I'd like to meet:

My grandmother Carpenter and Fuller in heaven. My dad.

Music:

I enjoy discovering new music. I love whatever touches my soul. Movie soundtracks are a real favorite, because I can re-live the scenes from the movie as I listen to the music. Excellent examples are the soundtracks from "Out of Africa" and "Superman."

Movies:

Jaws, Apollo 13, Always, The Color Purple, The Black Stallion, absolutely ALL Benji movies.

Television:

CSI Las Vegas, Amazing Race, and Reno 911. Kinda shallow on this one.

Books:

To Kill a Mockingbird, Speaker for the Dead, A Prayer for Owen Meaney, Traveler, Titan Trilogy, Deeds of Paksinarian

Heroes:

My mother, my partner and the guys who picks up my trash.
