I am a thirty-four year old obsessive clean-freak! I am married to a wonderful husband, we have a cute ~ yet eccentric (and extremely clever)~ nine year old daughter who aspires to be a nun when she grows up, and we have two insane Jack Russell Terriers who are every bit a part of our family as the humans. I am a Museum Curator who adores history, therefore my huge collection of books would likely seem boring to most. We have lived all over the place...Dublin, Ireland; Mississippi; Colorado; Delaware and Virginia. I possess a rather large collection of vinyl records (I could never give those up) as well as teapots and anything Jack Russell. I have red hair, green eyes, and more often than not in my life, I have been found wearing 17th or 18th century clothing (in work). People tell me I definitely do not look my age....I have been accused of being in my early twenties, which isn't such a bad thing......I am not your typical girl. I like quirky things; I have always been labelled "different"; and I enjoy the odd things in life. Let's face it- mohawks, coloured hair, doc martens and wearing black were not your average appearance in the world of the nineteen eighties. I have always enjoyed writing since I was a child, a few recent ramblings I have posted on the web can be found over at:www.dublingirl.diaryland.com

My Interests

Family time; concerts (when the budget allows); Irish step dancing; soccer; hockey; cooking and baking; Jack Russell Terriers; all things nautical; books; the 17th and 18th centuries; writing; sewing; drawing and art... one could say I am creative! And of course, History is a love of mine.

I'd like to meet:

Thomas Jefferson; Pope John Paul II (and Pope Benedict for that matter); Edward Gorey

Music:

I must admit, I am still faithful to my favourite bands from the 1980's and 1990's. Some favourites are: The Clash, Cracker, Camper Van, U2, Travis, the Clash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black 47, Echo and the Bunnymen, Flesh for Lulu, Crowded House/Neil Finn, the Smiths, DMB, Counting Crows, Elvis Costello, Live, REM, the Jesus & Mary Chain, the Jam, the Fall, the Pogues, the English Beat, the Divine Comedy, Public Image Limited, the Sex Pistols, the Beautiful South, Ride, the Stone Roses, the Verve, Lush, New Order, Kate Bush, Joy Division, B-52's, Simple Minds. Fairground Attraction...and the list goes on and on from there. I also enjoy listening to Ryan Adams, the Fray, Coldplay, my old friend Brice Woodall and various jazz and classical performers.

Movies:

Pretty in Pink; Ronin; Mr. Deeds; Four Weddings and a Funeral; Napoleon Dynamite; nearly anything with John Cusack; You've Got Mail; the HP series; Snatch; Fight Club; Gone with the Wind; Palm Beach Story. And I could probably watch Ferris Bueller a couple more hundred times. Favourites: John Cusack, Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan and Kate Winslet.

Television:

Alton Brown and the Weather Channel; a good soccer or hockey match when on; Father Ted; Ballykissangel; the Office; Dave Chappelle; 24 (although it IS a bit over the top!).

Books:

AUTHORS....Edward Gorey, Tim Pat Coogan, Ivor Noel Hume, Maeve Binchy, Ardal O'Hanlon and slews more! Oh and if it is history-related, I will most likely enjoy it.

Heroes:

Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa; Bono; all those who suffer injustices throughout the world - politically, socially and religiously based; Ramona Quimby; people who put their lives on the line for what they believe in and what is right; those who are not afraid to be themselves; and hey, let's not forget Dogzilla!
