About Me
Born and raised in Carson, California, Michael Eric Cordeta (DJ MIKE "E") always had his ears immersed in music. At an early age, Michael would accompany his parents to their family dinner-dance parties where he would sit in boredom while his parents enjoyed themselves on the dance-floor. As Michael grew older, he saw the correlation between the guests of the party and the music provided by the DJ. Michael began to realize that the role of the DJ is not only to play music, but to provide entertainment and create an exciting atmosphere for all to enjoy.
Michael and his cousin would imitate the DJs they heard using two pieces of wood as their own turntables, mixing to the music they heard on the radio. Inspired and influenced by the styles of DJ E-man, Mr. Choc, and DJ Echo, Michael realized that he wanted to be a DJ.
At the age of fourteen, Michael got a hold of his first turntables as a gift from a friend. He would spend sleepless nights and endless days practicing with only two records. WIth his parents seeing Michael's new hobby as a distraction, Michael would save his lunch money and sell candy in order to buy more records. As Michael's record collection grew, so did his skills.
DJ MIKE "E"'s first gigs were house parties and debutant balls. He was always able to create high energy amongst the partygoers, never leaving opportunity for a dull moment.
Through word of mouth, DJ MIKE "E"' began his professional career landing his first club gig at Level 3 in Hollywood, California. The buzz about DJ MIKE "E" began to grow and led him to DJ other venues like Belluno (formerly Bellagio), The Larchmont, Wasabis, Kolla's, Cinespace, Ivar, Basque, Forbidden City, Florentine Gardens, In Cahoots, and The Buzz in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Currently, DJ MIKE "E" is the official DJ for Stay Fresh Entertainment and holds residency at In Cahoots in Orange County and Florentine Gardens in Hollywood. He is also working on his first official mixtape to be released in September of '07.
