In a time where being “gangsta” is the realest portrayal for a rapper escaping poverty; one young man has a different outlook. “ I feel the whole selling crack and busting guns is so cliché, if you lived it you lived it, if you didn’t and can’t find anything else to talk about then your not a real MC ”. At the age of 20 the New York born rapper/entrepreneur is more than ready to tackle the contact sport we know as the music industry. “I feel like the music industry doesn’t just want to sign premier artist, they’re looking to sign acts with more to bring to the table, along with longevity”. Hailing from Mount Vernon, NY and residing in Jersey City, NJ a young Isaiah Johnson was faced with the same conflicts as any other inner-city kid. “I hung out with the drug dealers, and real dudes everyone in the hood does, and I was a loose cannon myself, but I understood the fate the real dudes suffered and I didn’t want that outcome out of life”. Growing up within the rap and musical culture of both cities gave a five year old Dutch Tha KID a platform to grab the mic at an early age. “I’ve been spitting for fifteen years already (laughs), I have so much of me that’s been bottled up that I know people can relate too, that I feel like I was put on earth to do this and be heard”. With his own, independent label United Masterminds Records, a luxury hip-hop store coming soon, and a watch in development, Dutch Tha KID feels his movement will only get stronger. “I feel I already have good people in my corner, and the only piece that’s missing to the puzzle is the major deal”.
