James Guo, a.k.a The Seventh Man, started his music career as a subway musician in New York City at the age of 18. His name was created due to his love of playing on the 7 train.
While as an undergraduate student in Syracuse University, James Guo continued to perform at various student events as well as local clubs. During summers, he would come back home to New York City and perform with a Latino trio, played covers ranging from Spanish rock music to Chinese pop songs. He was interviewed many times by New York City’s Chinese radio and TV stations such as SinoVision and Sino-TV/AM1480.
After graduation in 2005, Guo traveled to Asia. While in Hong Kong, he took a job as a music production assistant with Eddie Tang, one of the top producer/performer in Hong Kong, who has performed and produced for acts such as Jacky Cheung, Jade Kwan and Terrance Choi. It was there where he met guitarist Larry Chan, with whom he formed the band We Love Them Girls. The band stormed the stage on the night of July 8th, 2006, performing live at the internationally broadcasted annual show Mr. Hong Kong 2006 on TVB.
