where have I been all my life?

About Me

It seems I'm never happy with standing still, always reaching yearning wanting more, but having no money to do it. I act, I cut hair, I "bar tend" and I'm great to talk to when I have free time. I'm incredibly frustrated that my 3 jobs that don't pay me enough keep me from seeing the man I love more than once a week, but I'm too optimistic to let it get me down...

My Interests

Acting, direcing, dancing, listening to people sing, laughing, watching a good movie with some home made popcorn, a good book

I'd like to meet:

A patron perhaps? I'd say all the friends I've lost touch with over the years, but I seem to have found most of them as of this evening. From best friends to old girlfriends and sometimes both... I like people who can knock ideas around, who get excited about fighting the man, who have dreams and sometimes have the balls to follow them. Over all, I admire honesty and an audacity to be who you are in spite of expectations.

Music:

something that reflects my mood... Dispatch, Tori, Heart, Steph Bowlin, Postal Service, Guster, Paul Oakenfold, etc.

Movies:

Indi, chic flics, Virgin Suicides, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, When Harry Met Sally, Clue, The Royal Tennenbaums

Television:

Lost, Arrested Development, Family Guy, ANTM, Weeds

Books:

The Time Traveler's Wife, Forever, A Brief History of Nearly Everything, Dune series, Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

Heroes:

Those that actually trust their instincts

My Blog

Renovation

What a broad topic renovation is. I could be discussing many things. Refinishing an old antique, reestablishing myself in a new city, or just fixing up my apartment. The latter is most literally tr...

Dear Chicago

I have been instructed to go buy string to tie my bed to the roof of Scotts car tomorrow.  I'm pretty sure that means I'm moving... and of course this is true.  I have been preparing to do s...

Time keeps on tickin'

WOW, so I have three months left in this beautiful city of Chicago, and lately I've been asked, "are you still moving?" quite a lot.  And the answer for good or bad is yes.  There comes a ti...

Am I there yet?

I keep running into the same thought pattern lately... I am totally an adult.  When this fully happened I don't know, but the many adjustments of late have caught up with me in a maturing way.&nb...

groggy adjustments/cranky at the grocery store

I must say that although I respond, "not much" when asked "what's going on" it's a lie.  A lot has been going on, I just havn't been all that energetic or excited recently, and I wish I could get...

What's next?

Do you ever feel that you were crawling through a tunnel for a long time and suddenly you're standing at the other side and suddenly you have no idea what to do next?  You've been so focused abou...

Spring, may I have this dance?

I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge a few things.  Some revelations of late.  Last night I slept with my window open and a friend in my bed (not that kind of friend)  It was w...

All hail the mighty clinic

I met my new doctor yesterday.  She's pretty fantastic.  But what more could you expect from an LGBT clinic?  And God bless the sliding scale that only makes me pay a fraction of the co...

The Muffin Man

Last night I googled my name and the most bizarre thing happened.  I once worked as a baker at an independent coffee house in Syracuse, NY called Happy Endings.  So much to my surprise I fin...

"Go with the gut"

These are the exact words I uttered to Jean Stapleton in college during a Q&A.  Rather ridiculous, but also true.  It's strange some of the things my gut tells me to do, but not as stang...
