making music with my band SparkleJet, screen printing, art, pinball restoration, skateboarding (yup, I still do it!), b-monster/sci-fi movies and old cartoons (my grandma was in the biz!), an occasional surf trip (long overdue) or rock climb in the nearby Sierras, seeing live bands on all levels, spending time with my son Tristan
Pete Townshend, Bob Pollard, wish I could've met Walt Disney, Charles Carter, P.T. Barnum, Keith Moon, Roy Parker, Edward D. Wood Jr.. I've been lucky enough to meet tons of amazing people that I admire and look to for inspiration, including my sweetheart Jennifer.
stuff I'm listening to lately..the WHO (they are in constant rotation in my cd changer), same goes for GBV, next, in no order-KaitO, Breeders, PJ Harvey, The Cramps, The Pixies, X, White Stripes, Komeda, Surf Coasters (from Japan!), Jon and the Nightriders, old Black Sabbath, Ramones, Husker Du, Minor Threat, David Bowie, Sex Pistols, SoundGarden, Jeff Buckley, Elvis Costello, Bad Brains, The Pretenders, The Jam, DEVO, Redd Kross, L7, Earlimart, Pavement, The Replacements, Deerhoof, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Alaska, Fu Manchu, Fugazi, Red Aunts, Iggy Pop, Amazing Sweethearts, Sleepover Disaster, Napolean Blownaparts, PinkEye (from Fresno), Citizens Here and Abroad, The Amps, ..I like pretty much anything that moves me musically, but I'm not into new, mainstream radio stuff.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Toho Godzilla movies, Evil Dead, Mars Attacks, Day the Earth Stood Still, big monster bug movies like Them, Tarantula, and The Deadly Mantis, This Island Earth, The Mole People, Adventures of Baron Munchaussen, A Bucket of Blood, Brain that Wouldn't Die, Plan 9 from Outer Space, Things to Come, most B&W movies with Robots in them..bad Kung Fu movies like Mystery of Chess Boxing, Wu Tang Clan. I own around a zillion bad movies..just try me, I probably have it.
I really don't watch much..the Simpsons or old Twilight Zone or Munsters on dvd.
Right now I'm reading Hunting Accidents by James Greer (personalized to me by Bob himself) Snake Oil by Jim Rose..sneaky tricks! I'm usually into biography books..the few I read recently: Pure Imagination, Circus of the Scars, Our Band Could Be Your Life, Freak Like Me, Memoirs of a Sword Swallower, Go Tell The Mountain, The Man Who Folded Himself, Pufnstuf and Other Stuff.
