About Me

Hello People, The name is Dan. I am many things or should I say I have worn many hats in my life. Perhaps, I have worn many name tags. Perhaps, I am just another dude walking through life. Any way you look at it I do exist therefore I am?Officially I am the son of a coalminer and a domestic engineer. The middle son to be exact. I was born in Bismarck, North Dakota. I Grew up along the banks of the Knife River, land of the three affiliated tribes (Mandand, Hidatsa, and Arikara)indian. Beulah has two nicknames "Lignite Coal capital of the World" and "Energy Center U.S.A". It is where most of the billions of tons of coal energy which comes out of North Dakota comes from. It is also called the "Hub of Lake Sakakawea", named after the famous Shoshone guide for Lewis & Clark's Expedition, formed by the Garrison Dam in the 1950's. It was a great place to grow up. I grew up with a true love for the outdoors which never seems to fade. I guess you'd could say that I am still a country boy at heart. Both my mom and my dad's families were German-Russian Immigrants who moved to the Dakotas during the Late 1890's from areas along the Black Sea. They migrated to America by boat and then moved by train to Dakota territory following the Great Indian Wars. They eventually homesteaded land in Central North Dakota and Eastern Montana. Two of these homesteads still remain in our family. So that is how I became an American. When I was 18 I moved to Fargo, ND. Five years later I moved to Minneapolis and that is where I now live. I am married and we have a small house. My wife is a talented actress and director. She is also training as a Yoga instructor. We both work for the Minneapolis School District. I am also a musician. My favorite hobbies include going to see live music, recording tracks with other musicians, watching movies, biking, walking, Cooking, and Camping.

I'd like to meet:

I like to meet new people and share ideas. My space is a new experience for me. Because of my ethnocentric background, I am always interested in learning other people stories about how they became American. I like to talk about music, politics, and spirituality to name a few other topics. Basically I would like to meet new people from places I may never go. So in a sense, I am travelling telepathically, right?

Started as a drum circle to provide a stress reliever and a way to heal after the 'Thing', the Rhythmic Roots Drum Circle turned into a community gathering every other Sunday night outside St. Augustine church. This video was taken in late July 2006, and features a traditional Mardi Gras Indian leading the performance.
