Hip-Hop has continued to stray from its roots of social change, empowerment and knowledge as corporate America further digs its filthy claws into the most powerful musical art form of our age. As the times follow greater uncertainties, fans of this music wonder what happened to the content that elevated minds and once held great meaning as spoken by street poets such as Rakim, Chuck D., KRS-One and Tupac Shakur to name only a few. Hip-Hop has suffered a huge void that has been desperate to be filled for nearly a decade, hopelessly searching for someone, anyone to once again pass the torch. That time is now.
Prophecy, born and raised in Los Angeles, California, has made it his life's work to speak truth, revelation, emotion and power in each word behind each line of each verse. It is as if each rhyme scheme has been given the breath of life, meeting starved Hip-Hop fans right where they need it most. However, addressing universal human conditions is no easy task. Prophecy has claimed his life has been one of constant trial and turmoil, strictly for the purpose of seeking understanding. It is this very understanding that is translated through the expression of his music. Prophecy feels that unique trials have given him the ability to recognize the many injustices that our world faces on a daily basis, and the wrongdoings that are committed in our dealings with every day people. The result is music and poetry with a clever blend of intellect, poignant truth and wisdom.
As mentioned earlier, Prophecy has dedicated himself to speak to a broken world that is in dire need of healing. When he set his sights on this mission, he never knew what he would be facing or the times in which he would be speaking. But now that our world is filled with terrorist threats of violence, government scandals, worldwide discord and domestic chaos, now more than ever is there a need for one brave enough to carry on a heroic tradition in a time when heroism seems impossible and futile. Though this world may never recover from its downward path, Prophecy refuses to let it go down without a fight. This music is his fight.
