Most artists never get the chance to sign a multi-million dollar recording contract, get the opportunity to record with their ..wish list.. of producers, perform on a major national concert tour to hundreds of thousands of perspective fans, perform on a national sports tour, perform on national television shows, audition for major movie studio, establish their own music their own music publishing company while being home schooled and all before the age of 11. Now 16, ATL native SAS ..aka.. Sasso has achieved all the above and then some.
In 2001, SAS, along with his brother Scrap, and cousin Bucklyte ..p/k/a.. the Razkalz Cru signed a multi-million dollar recording contract with Dreamworks Records. They immediately was placed in the studio and recorded with P. Diddy, Battle Cat, Stevie J. and Swizz Beatz. The group was taught the creative and financial value of writing and music publishing by their management team. The individual members in the group immediately established their own respective music publishing companies to facilitate their writing and publishing interests.
Although the young trio were technically in the music business, they were about to get their first taste of the business of music. SAS and the group parted ways with DreamWorks Records and signed with Elektra Records. SAS says Elektra presented short-term and long-term plans for the group that were identical to what the group had envisioned for themselves.
Under Elektra Records and before its demise, the group recorded with Missy Elliott, Jazzy Pha, Polo ..The Dawn.., Irv Gotti, and Akon. They performed on Nickelodeon..s national TV show ..All that!.. The group was used in a major national billboard campaign for Sean John. They also shot their first video with well-known hip-hop video producer Erik White. SAS and ..The Cru.. toured on the B2K Pandemonium Tour with Junior Varsity and Marcus Houston. Some of the cities on tour were New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Washington DC. They also headlined the AND 1 Basketball Tour established friendships with AND 1 team members AO, Sick-Wit-It, Escalade, and Hot Sauce just to name a few. The group was also one of the first Rap / Hip-Hop artists ..invited.. to perform at the annual Congressional Black Caucus in Washington, DC.
In such a short time and short life, SAS has quickly established himself as a true ..playa.. in the game. He credits his persistence in the game to the support he receives from his family such as his brother Scrap and cousin who is now signed to Akon..s Konvict Music. SAS credits his music and business influences to industry icons Jay Z, and P. Diddy. He is currently establishing his business interests so that in the future he can diversify those interests in aspects in and out of the music industry such as label, music publishing, a shoe company, video games, merchandising, and real estate. SAS is looking forward to working with producers Akon, Nitty, Ike Dirty, and artists T.I., Lil.. John, Ll.. Wayne, Snoop, and The Game.
Growing up in gated communities with private swimming pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, one would think SAS has it all. However, SAS is quick to reflect on how far he has come from the local Atlanta area talent shows, touring and missing a normal childhood, not being able to attend a regular school, and recording contracts going sour. SAS gives credits to his parents for working extremely hard to give him such a life and making all the opportunities he has experienced possible. Although his parents have provided him with a certain lifestyle that many aspire to have, it is amazing SAS still has dreams and aspirations he wants to achieve. He hopes to aspire other young teens to be fly by following their own dreams regardless which side of life they have come from. As SAS says ..Mama may have, Papa he may have, BUT God bless the child that..s got his own!..
