Apache Singer

About Me

I am White Mountain Apache and Dine' from Whiteriver, Arizona. My maternal clan is the Eagle Clan, and my paternal Navajo clan is the Tobacco People. My mother is White Mountain Apache and my late father, Joe Tohonnie Sr. was originally from Dine Bito' (Rocky Ridge, AZ). I was born and raised on the Ft. Apache Reservation in north central Arizona. In the Apache way, I was given the gift of singing at the age of six. Since I was a boy, I have been surround by music. My late father taught me Navajo social songs and peyote songs. These influences have helped me to develop a unique voice that is unlike any other. In early 2004, I released my first album “Good Old Times” followed by the release of “Dancing Stars” in May 2004. Volume 3 "The Tradition Lives On" was released in 2005. My latest album is Vol 4. "As Long As I Can See the Light".I am fortunate that my singing has taken me many places. I have a great group of dancers that make our travels all the more exciting. I’m happy to share my White Mountain Apache culture with the people. I am honored by the many blessings that I get from the people.
