About Me

Matt's Bio - I've been playing guitar since the mid-eighties. Funny thing is, I started out as a drummer. I had a cheap acoustic guitar but I never took it that seriously. As I progressed as a drummer, myself and a few guys started a band, and we did this throughout high school. I always had that guitar and I always played it in my spare time. The band I was in wrote a lot of original material and we mostly played hard rock/alternative music. After high school, our band split up. For whatever reason, I really got into Jimmy Buffett's music and that opened up a whole new taste of music for me. Shortly after, Dave Matthews Band came out and I really got into that, and I started playing the guitar more. I eventually started listening to country music and I was hooked. I've been playing ever since. ------------------Steve's Bio - I have only been playing guitar seriously for about 3 years...fooled around with it some before that, but never really forced myself to be able to play until then...still have alot to learn, though...i have always loved to sing and i grew up around parents that loved music...my mom especially loved gospel music, but we had plenty of country music albums spinning on the record player as i grew up...my dad was crazy about Jerry Lee Lewis and several others and he loved to sing in church as well...never thought i would get to play in front of people until a chance meeting with Matt...we started practicing together and decided to try playing out in front of people and really enjoyed it....just started trying to write songs about a year ago and really enjoy doing that when i have an inspiration....hard for me to force it though....seems like songwriting has to come on its own time frame....i try to make mental notes when something happens in my life that i want to put down in the words of a song...but it can be a slow process for me...anyway, i am very optimistic about where we are going as a group....-------------------------------Buck's Bio-I started playing guitar around age 12. I spent many, many hours playing on front porches before I got up the nerve to join a band. My best friend at the time was also a guitar player, and we found some other guys who just happened to play Bass and Drums. That is how it all got started. My first band was called the Cherokee Band, and our first gig was at the Narrows Town Festival. Over the years I have played guitar, bass and keyboards in several bands. I have also played banjo with a couple different Bluegrass bands. Over the past few years I have been focusing mainly on the recording side of music. I have written and recorded three CD's of my original material. I have also co-written a few songs, one of them with Matt called How do I break it to my heart. I have also been lucky enough to have some of my original songs get airplay on the radio, the last one being Hokie Nation, written about the Virginia Tech Tragedy. Recently, Matt asked me if I would be interested in joining with him and Steve. I thought about it for a while, then decided to join forces with them. I hope you like some of my original material, and I hope you enjoy listening to Acoustic Crossroads. -----Mark - I know every Jimmy Buffet song ever recorded. The guys needed a bass player, so here I am.
