About Me

Ok so heres a quite rundown of my entrance into the music industry and especially the hardcore techno rave scene. Before hearing any sort of dance music i was seriously into my rock/heavy metal and played guitar for a few years before hearing some of my brothers old skool tapes from fantazia, the edge, obsession etc, and first hearing DJ's like Carl Cox, Mikey B, Ultrasonic. This was my first taste of rave music and i suppose my first taste of djing was playing two tape desks into my marshall amp and attempting to mix pre recorded dj sets with no mixer (while my brother and his mates stomped around my parents garden dancing to carl cox from amnesia house....Not really what i would call a rave but to us it was the nearest thing (being only 14 at the time). My progression into hardcore techno arose from first hearing Easygroove play his jungle techno style music @ Dance Planet in 1995 at the Aston Villa Leisure Center. By accident we walked into the techno room where producer and scorpio were playing. Having never really heard any real techno i was hooked. Just the shear origionality of the tunes were amazing and this led me down the path which i so religiously follow now. I was first properly introduced to mixing through a friend of a friend who was djing in local clubs around the worcester area, mixing hardcore, which although i didnt really like got me into having a go on his decks. I then purchased a second hand pair of sound lab direct drive turntables which were bloody hard to mix on but i persisted with buying a few records and practising my beatmatching. While learning to mix i was attending every hardcore event going from Helter Skelter, Death Row Techno, Dreamscape, Slammin Vinyl, Hysteria, north, Die Hard, Club Kinetic etc etc and getting to know a few of the dj's on the circuit which kinda got me noticed as i was always the one absolutely bollocked stomping at the front waiting for HMS and Loftgroover to come on. I even had a flouresant jacket (my god i never thought i'd mention that but hey). Anyways after a few years of mixing and starting to make my own music and i decided it was time to get motivated and get some sort of qualification in music which had played a massive part in my upbringing and was a major part of my life. In 1999 i went to Staffordshire University to do a degree in Sound Enginneering and Music Technology, Met so many like minded people whilst there such as the dj enigma and Joe ET, and started having amazing parties at my student house (CORPO RIP). I had been getting a few gigs around the country at small events playing Trance and some hardcore techno but my first big break cam playing B2B with DJ Enigma at North (Lakota). This then catapulted me into playing for North on a regular basis, both with enigma and on my own. I was then asked to do a North Tour night in hereford at the Jailhouse which got me a resisdency with the Lock Up (Spunky/Nemesis). I had also been playing for Oblivion as a Bi Monthly resisdent and Obvious in Worcester (Zig Zags). After Finishing my degree i moved to Hereford to be with my girlfriend Beccy (now wife) and started working in Flip Records and doing some part time work at the Courtyard Theatre as the Sound Enginneer. This led me to a full time job as the chief sound enginner and into the theatre and performing arts . After working 17 hour days for 2 years i decided enough was enough and managed to get the chief Technicians job at Worcester University teaching lighting and sound to degree student (where i still am today). Ok so that my background here's a few of the clubs/events ive played for icluding Slammin Vinyl @ The NEC NYE (Playing the midnight set).Oblivion – Leicester Club Soho and The Street Skegness, Species – Manchester, The Park & The Phoenix and Time & Space Newcastle Under Lyme North – The Void Stoke On Trent, Lakota Bristol, The Emporium Coalville, The Brunel Rooms, , North Tour @ The Jailhouse & The Que Club Birmingham Uproar – The Emporium Coalville, Nottingham National Ice Center, The Sanctuary Birmingham, Hard to the Core The Buttermarket Shrewsbury Slammin Vinyl – The NEC NYE Hardcore Heaven VS Slammin Vinyl Bagleys London Jasbof – The Cello Lounge Liverpool Calm – Loughborough The Lock Up – Jailhouse, The Crystal Rooms, Scream (Now the Lock up) Temple Of Bass – The Lock Up Organic – Scream Obvious- The Boat & Zig Zags WorcesterIam currently resident for THE Lock Up in Hereford and Radical TechnologyCheck me out www.radicaltechnology.co.uk www.the-lock-up.co.uk Anyways hope to catch some of you out sometime come and say hello.
