He was raised in various parts of the Evergreen, Colorado area and home-schooled until fifth grade. Josh..s mother Mari and Father John then moved to Erie, Colorado just North of Denver. Josh and his mother moved to the Western Slope in New Castle, Colorado for a few years where he continued to visit his father in the Denver Metro area. This where his ongoing love affair with country music began while taking long bus rides through the mountains past Harvey Gap to school every day jammin’ an old school tape ‘Walkman’. Sixth grade in the New Castle schoolhouse is where he began his first plucking.. on the guitar by attending a class offered by the school. By the time he returned to the Westminster, Colorado area it was time to start seventh grade and he completed eighth grade as well at Moore Middle School. Josh began to nuture his music career and interest as well and founded the band Wood Goblin with Jimmy Rock and Duncan Olds. An alterative band that played local parties and Downtown music halls like the Mercury Cafe in Denver, Colorado. Joshua attended Ranum High School for ninth grade, Foothills Academy for tenth and eleventh grade and Graduated from Horizon High School in Northglenn, Colorado in 1998.Graduating one semester earlier then projected. He decided for various reasons to take one semester off and began College at University of Colorado at Denver in 1998 starting with basic courses and planning to get his Bachelors degree in psychology. With music still a major part in Josh’s life he played guitar with the New Song fellowship youth band and recored his first professional musical offering on an album titled ..A Drink Of You.. featuring songs by Loren Sandford. While maintaining an almost three year job selling suits and men’s clothing for The Men..s Wearhouse he added to his skills as communicator through all of the location moves and school changes, a passion for communication. After attending two years at the University and completing nearly sixty credits he decided that it was time for another break and began focusing on various sales jobs. In the spring of two thousand and one Josh had an accident to what ended up being a bad ankle injury which required surgery and an extensive rehabilitation and decide to stop working in sales and take a trip to Mesa, Arizona to visit some family after healing enough to walk without crutches. When Josh returned he found that he needed to get his own place and began renting a room from a friend while trying to work his way up in the property management field. This is when Joshua fell in love with a high school friend Taylor and soon conceived what would be his first born child Gennaveve Carole Damsma. She was born in Westminster, Colorado and was memorably the most life changing thing that had ever happened in his life to date. He knew that it was time to get his life in gear and worked in security, auto sales, valet parking, temporary and full time property management capacities as well as retail management for Footlocker at two different locations in the Denver Metro area. After a few years of just trying to ..Break In.. to various types of industries Mr. Damsma came to the decision to join the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. There was a long six month wait before he could ..ship off.. .This life move to the military would essentially enable his family to have the medical care they need and to allow him to obtain marketable career skills with a steady income while serving a valuable mission for his beloved America . He attended Basic Training at Lackland AFB from Feb-Apr 2004. Joshua Damsma became Airman Damsma. He was off to Keesler AFB. Much. Josh was fortunate that during this time the Air Force was letting people go left and right due to manning issues he had a chance to stay by being retrained into Telephone Systems. He had to attend more schooling at Keesler in the electronics field and it was off the Sheppard, Air Base for Telephone technician school for the remainder of Air Force technical training. Shock shot through his body as his assignment to Misawa Air Base, Japan was handed to him. Never had he though that he would end up serving the United States in a foreign country, let alone have the honor to serve in great nation of Japan. Josh Damsma, a pregnant Taylor Damsma and Gennaveve Damsma relocated to Misawa Air Base in February 2005 towing along a cat named Mattese and their life..s belongings. Joshua and Taylor..s son Conrad John Damsma was born at Misawa Air Base in August of 2005, another incredible life changing event. This made him the most proud father of two that could ever be. Airman First Class Joshua Damsma continued to grow and nurture his military career and an Airman in the world..s greatest Air Force and at the end of 2005 was awarded the coveted Senior Airman Below the zone and was promoted six months early to E-4. He also finished his first college degree an Associate Degree From the Community College of the Air Force in Electronic Systems Technology. He has had a large hand in graphic design, slogan, logo and military patch designs for agencies throughout Misawa. His beloved children, Gennaveve and Conrad are currently residing in his native state Colorado with their mother to which he plans to return in January or February 2008 when his enlistment ends. The Air Force has given him the much need skills, drive and integrity to pursue more then he ever thought possible. Josh still lives at Misawa Air Base in Northern Japan and is commited to the assistance of whatever is the mission at hand and serving his country to the best of his ability.A message from Joshua Damsma:I can't thank everyone enough from all over the nation for your support, your thoughts and prayers make us feel like heroes everyday...God Bless America.
