I am here for Friends

About Me

People are complex. You can't boil them down to a category & file them in an "about me" section. There's just too many angles, tid-bits and hues that will be missed. And I'm no different. So bear in mind, this is merely a thin, pasteurised version of me. I am a single father to a wonderful eleven year old boy named Tyler who loves video games (no surprise there), camping, and who dances everytime it snows. He is by far the greatest blessing in my life. I was born and raised in northern Californa (Sonoma & Santa Rosa). Although I no longer live in the area, I still consider it my home. I recently moved to the east coast with the promise of a new job and the hope of living closer to my girlfriend. Up to that point it was a long distance relationship. So the prospect of being able to "see" each other was very appealing. But things didn't work out as I'd hoped. The job never panned out. And the relationship... Well, I don't like to sling mud. I'll just say it was bad and getting worse for all invalved. I have since moved back to the west coast -- Oregon this time. I see this move as an opportunity for me to piece my life back together. I can honestly say my son and I are very happy here, and very hopeful for the future. As far as other random bits of personal info: I joined Myspace a little over a year ago. I have to admit, I'm really surprised by the quality of friendships I've developed here. Being spread across the world, they are, for the most part, online friends only. And yet they treat me like family. It's very humbling. I am acutely aware of all my flaws, and sometimes I feel lass than worthy of such edifying friendships. I am a lucky man. Also, I love music! I find that it often effects my mood, inspires me, and helps me keep an open mind. I love movies for the exact same reasons. I'm also a sucker for movie and music quotes, and will often insert them in emails, comments, or wherever! Yeah, dorky fun! I am generally positive and optimistic. But life has taught me to be realistic as well. So while I see the glass as half full, I am usually suspicious of it. Well, that's about as deep as I go here. If you'd like to know anything else, just ask.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

You know, I'm an easy going kind of guy. It doesn't take much to make me happy. I'd say I'd like to meet someone who is kind, genuine, and has a real three dimensional personality. I've also got a little thing for Christina Ricci. I asked her out on a date once. That was a year ago. I'm still waiting to hear back. But I expect good news. Who could say no to pizza and bowling?

Books:

Edgar Allen Poe lived a sad and tormented life (welcome to the club, Ed). As someone who can definitely get into the dark "B" side of a record, I really feel a lot in Poe's writing. "Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before." It's so compelling, I get goose bumps every time! With a background as the Virginia State Chief Forensic Medical Examinor, Patricia Cornwell is able to draw on much of her past to paint a disturbingly vivid picture. Absolutely everything her mind produces is taut, well paced and extremely vivid. I recomend beginning with "Postmortem". It grabs hold of your senses from the first page, and is absolutely enthralling through out. I also enjoyed "The Inferno". This was a tough read. Dante Alighieri wrote the etire story as a single poem. Plus it's been translated from its orignal language (Italian or maybe Latin. I'm not sure. It's been a couple of years.) into English. So the "flow" of the dialogue is a little tricky. But I still loved it. To take a virtual tour of Hell throgh Dante's eyes was irresistable.
