CSULA AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL MISSION STATEMENT:
Operating as an independant urgent action network, the Amnesty International club of California State University, Los Angeles is a non profit organization with the objective of upholding the Universal Declaration of Human Rights outlined by the United Nations.
We wish to encourage students to be aware of global injustice and take action in the form of letters of petition to foreign governments violating human rights as out lined by the United Nations. It is our intention to campaign for the release of prisoners of conscience abroad.
Furthermore, we wish to go beyond the call of writing letters and more actively engage in Amnesty International concerns. We wish to do this through:
* cinema screenings
* guest speaker meetings and discussions
* petition endorsements
* social events
* tabling events
GETTING INVOLVED!
Ways You Can Help:
The Amnesty International Club of California State University, Los Angeles is open to all students and faculty interested in making a difference. Members decide their own level of involvement. There are many ways members can participate in the club and contribute individual talents and resources to meeting the common objective. For more information on the specific ways you can help, contact General Information.
Letters of petition to oppressive governments can be written independant of the club by any members and submitted to officers via e-mail for approval at any time.
Furthermore, campaigns in opposition to the Death Penalty, human rights violations in relation to environmental causes and more to be in progress. As well as an "adopt-a-prisoner" long term program to help those not imemdiately being released after much effort.
While our objectives for liberty remain static, specific areas of concentration change frequently within the network. Therefore, the more involved a member is in club meetings, the more likely they are to remain vigiliant of our shifting focuses.
