DUO DUO , consisting of Andreas Metzler (double bass) and Florian Hierdeis (guitar), aims to find the balance between traditional jazz and modern “interplayâ€. The two successful jazz musicians have known each other ever since their first day at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. However, it took several years after they had achieved their “Bachelors of Music“ to finally find the time for joint projects.

Florian Hierdeis, born april 13, 1977 in Augsburg (Germany) has been playing the guitar since he was ten years old. In 1998 he signed up at the College for Music in Krumbach (Bavaria, Germany). His teachers were Torsten de Winkel , Mini Schulz , Marcus Bodenseh und Stefan Barcsay . In 2000 he was accepted at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam . His main subject teachers were: Maarten van der Grinten , Jesse van Ruller , Martijn van Iterson und Ed Verhoeff . During his study at the CvA, he attended master classes with Kurt Rosenwinkel , Nelson Faria , Pat Martino , Mike Stern and many more.
Since 2000 Florian Hierdeis has been actively involved in the Amsterdam music scene; he is a composer and plays in the Netherlands as well as abroad with a variety of different formations. He is teaching jazzguitar at the DJAM .
Andreas Metzler, born june 2, 1974 in Bern (Switzerland), completed his studies under Frans van der Hoeven , Arnold Dooyeweerd, Maggie Urquhart, and Peter Stotijn at the “Conservatorium van Amsterdam“ in 2004. For many years Andreas has been an active member of the Amsterdam jazz scene and has played at a number of national and international occasions with famous jazz musicians such as Berend van den Berg, Joris Roelofs , Saskia Laroo , Lils Mackintosh , Michiel Borstlap , Shibly Band and others. Andreas has played many festivals in Germany, Italy and Austria.
Currently he is working on his new project, the Andreas Metzler's New Solutions Quartet , for which he is composing and arranging various pieces from the famous French composer Eric Satie .
