About Me

I am the son of a barrister and lecturer, and was born in Edinburgh, but I spent most of my childhood in Durham. At the age of 14 I returned to Edinburgh to finish my education at Fettes College. Then I went on to study law at Oxford, and become a barrister myself. After I stood unsuccessfully for the Labour Party in a by-election (bastards!),I went on to win the seat of Sedgefield in the 1983 General Election, when i was little young 30 year old (which i was rather proud of).I then went on to make a speedy rise through the ranks, being promoted first to the shadow Treasury front bench in 1984. I was subsequently served as a trade and industry spokesman, before being finally elected to the Shadow Cabinet in 1988 where I was made Shadow Secretary of State for Energy. In 1989 I moved to the employment brief. After the 1992 election Labour's new leader, John Smith, promoted me to Shadow Home Secretary. It was in this post that I made my famous pledge that Labour would be tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime.John Smith died suddenly and unexpectedly in 1994 (i'm still currently getting over it), and in the subsequent leadership contest I won a large majority of his party's support.I then immediately launched my campaign for the modernisation of the Labour Party, determined to complete the shift further towards the political centre which I saw as essential for victory. The debate over Clause 4 of the party's constitution was considered the crucial test of whether its members would commit to my project. I removed the commitment to public ownership, and at this time coined the term 'New Labour'.The Labour Party won the 1997 General Election by a landslide (everyone was quite fucked off with tories to be honest) after 18-fucking-years in Opposition. At the age of 43 , I became the youngest Prime Minister since Lord Liverpool in 1812,(stick that in your pipe Major!)Tony Blair was re-elected with another landslide majority in the 2001 General Election.I am now married to the barrister Cherie Booth QC, and we have four children. My youngest, Leo, was the first child born to a serving Prime Minister in over 150 years!Look at that young scally wag!Do you really think this boy could run the country!!?!Eh?!Do you?hmm

My Interests

Im interested in fishing, reading, playing guitar, scrabble,Newcastle United and socialising with collegues.

I'd like to meet:

like minded conservative haters who enjoy going to the theatre, and anyone who is'nt Gordon Brown

Music:

I listen to mainly the Rolling Stones,Queen, the Beatles,Free and other jazzy rock type groups from my past youth.I also enjoy listening to BBC Radio 4,apart from there snide comments on my goverment policies.I was also the lead singer and guitarist in a rock band in my university days called 'The Ugly Rumours'.I was quite serious about it. It wasn't just a mere dalliance - it was a bit more than that for me.With politics, it all clicked into place for me somehow. Whereas with music you had to have a particular set of attitudes that I didn't quite have, and it never happened for me even though I was desperately keen to carry on.You can see a picture of me from my university days in pictures part...

Movies:

I like military based films such as 'platoon'and 'a bridge too far' and other comedy films from Monty Python.I don't get the oppurtunity to watch films any longer as i have too much work to do

Television:

Well when i get the chance i watch Cash in the attic,Home & Away,Murder she wrote,The Bill and watched the recent 'Jamies school dinners' which brought my attention to something.I also like waking up in my own sick at about noon with a can of stella in my hand, and watch a 'today with des and mel' in my underpants, just dont tell the wife thanks.
