About Me

I work full time as a pilates trainer, so please sit up straight while you read my profile! I love going to my studio every day, since I can wear my pajamas to work and get to make people exercise, often against their will! I believe in being healthy, happy, and a positive force in the lives of others.Since the age of 4 I have been involved in the arts, and I grew up playing the violin, singing in choir, performing in musical theater, and studying ballet and modern dance. My new artistic passion is salsa dancing. Its really the most legal fun that you can have. I love to travel, watch movies, go to the theater, read books, go out to dinner, cook, and listen to NPR to get my lefty news fix. I'm close to my family, am a loyal friend, and am usually the girl who gets the party started wherever she goes!

My Interests

Exercise and fitness, dance, singing, arts and culture, travel, great books, NPR, arty movies, fashon, architecture, retro design, lefty politics, holistic health, restaurants, cooking, eating as many pastries as possible, walking in the woods, and close relationships with my family and good friends.

I'd like to meet:

Cultured, intelligent, and witty folks who are down to earth, happy, and passionate about life. And if I could kiss Clive Owen, Blair Underwood, Taye Diggs, and Gael Garcia Bernal before I die I would be one happy woman!

Music:

Classic Jazz is my favorite. Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, etc. Motown, R&B, salsa, brazillian, and other latin music, Classical and Opera, my secret love of hip hop, and I should probably admit now that I know (and can sing) just about every cheesy musical ever written. Hand me a karaoke mike at your own risk...

Movies:

All clasic films, (but especially Casablanca, Roman Holiday, and Singing in the Rain), Alfred Hitchcock films, anything Jane Austen (Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy in Pride and Predjudice, yummy...), anything Woody Allen, Amelie, Napoleon Dynamite, Garden State, The Godfather, The Star Wars Trilogy, Lawrence of Arabia, Amadeus, Out of Africa, Dangerous Liasons, A Room with A View, Billy Elliott, My Neighbor Totoro.

Television:

"Sex and the City!" Seriously, why did that show end, and what did women talk about before that show? I'm definately a Charlotte, but can talk like Samantha, am a fiery red head like Miranda, and am most often mistaken for a Carrie... I also love "The Sopranos," and "Six Feet Under." I'm a complete "dancing with the stars" junkie, and would love to be a fake celebrity who can't dance on that show so that I could win that competition! I recently broke down and got tivo and cable, and so now pretty much watch anything that has to do with fashon, dance, cooking, and decorating.

Books:

I read about a book a week, unless I force myself not to because I have to accomplish something, like my taxes or cleaning the bathroom. Some faves: Middlesex, The Shipping News, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Even Cowgirls Get The Blues, The Kite Runner, Corelli's Mandolin, The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, Pride and Predjudice, Jane Eyre, The House of Mirth, A Tale of Two Cities, The entire Harry Potter series, Bridget Jones' Diary, "Girl with a Pearl Earing", Memoirs of a Geisha, The Poisonwood Bible, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Fast Food Nation.

Heroes:

How do I love thee, let me count the ways: Gene Kelly, Ella Fitzgerald, Chita Rivera, Ben Vereen, Bob Fosse, Alvin Ailey. But seriously; people who make a difference. People who overcome great odds to succeed in life. All of those nameless brave people in "doctors without borders" and aid groups who give up their own safety to help others.
