Drug Baron is based on the true story of Castor Gonzalez. It all began with his daring escape from the communist island of Cuba in 1979; He arrived in Miami looking for a new beginning and different opportunities but one thing led to another and before long, he was so caught up in drug smuggling that there was no way he could put the breaks on the operation he had organized for the Medellin Cartel. This classic 80's street tale documents the rise of a real Cuban immigrant who came to this country without a penny in his pocket but in search of the "American Dream." Many fell victim to the life lived throughout the 1980's in this country. Fast forward over two decades later, all we ask is for another chance at life for these prisoners. They have served many years behind bars and all they ask for is another opportunity at becoming productive members of society.Castor has exahusted his appeals and is currently serving a Life sentence in a Maximum Security United States Pennitentary. Help us bring awareness to the harsh drug laws implemented during the 1980's to fight the War on Drugs. There are over 5,000 Lifers in the Federal system that are first-time, non-violent drug offenders. As of today, there is no parole in the Federal system for these men. Many deserve another chance at life and Castor Gonzalez is only one of them. Help us bring awareness to this matter and bring home the many family members who have been displaced by these lengthy and life ending sentences.
