Our Last Confession are a band who are always looking for that "tingle down the spine" factor. The band was brought together august 2002 by founding members Rich Beck, Andrew "AJ" Jackson and Kev Watts. There was talks for a while before that but as fate would have it escapism, drunk driving (he learnt his lesson), psychotic ex's and sheer boredom sealed the deal. Rich and AJ learnt over a short space of time they had a writing partnership that just clicked. One of these moments of smoking, writing and cider drinking madness gave birth to what is widely regarded as the fan favourite "Stupid Endings". Something else about the band worked perfectly as well, behind his shy, one-liner exterior Kev had become an incredible musician and drummer. To this day people at gigs have their eyes fixed on his drumming.
OLC recorded an album in 2003 but not many know of its existence, the band look back fondly on this time, it was a home recording recorded and produced by a chap called Nick who helped the boys understand their was more to music than punk.
2004-2005 saw a new era for OLC, the songs had become more quirky and more in depth. In these two years the band gained and lost a guitarist (Paul Joyce), recorded 2 EPS (2004 Stupid Endings) and (2005 Day-Glo) and worked with top Nottingham producers Paul Yeadon (Bivouac), Johnny Carter (Pitchshifter) and Dan Knowles (Amusement Parks On Fire).
When Paul left, AJ was finding playing bass quite restrictive as he'd always played it like a guitar anyway, the natural progression was for him was the pick up the guitar again. Thank God he did, OLC's sound once again took an unexpected turn, far more complex, more melody and more depth than ever before. For a few months, the past was all forgotten as the new sound was developing.
During this period Rich jammed with a chap named Matt Tongue. Unbeknown to Matt and Rich, Rich was playing the solo for "Small Town Streets". Their mutual friends suggested they make a band. Rich had other ideas and asked Matt if he could play Bass. The rest is history. Matt's commitment to OLC since joining in 2005 couldn't have worked out any better.
The band now a four piece again they decided to spend time and money on 2007's "December Echo". The session was between 2006 and 2007 produced by Mark Freezer who the band now rate very highly. Mark pulled the band in numerous different directions, pointing out that heavy is not always heaps of distortion and approved of AJ's piano abilities.
"December Echo" made it into HMV, Selectadisc and Fopp stores in Nottingham. HMV's and Selectadiscs first shipments sold out within 2 weeks!2008 is an exciting year for OLCNot only is a new recording on the way this year..........But theres a new little rock star in the making on the way too ;)OLCx
