Rockfic Press publishes band fiction exclusively--no nonfiction, no biographies, no fiction that isn't about rock bands (real or imagined)--just band fiction. Most of it contains slash (gay male erotica), but there's some het here and there, too. We have some of the best rock band fiction writers out there.
We publish stories (fictional only!) about (real or fictional) rock bands, hard rock bands, classic rock bands, heavy metal bands, power metal bands, punk bands, industrial bands, grunge bands...you get the picture, right?
What's this 'band fiction' crap anyway?
In the 1960s, band fiction was passed privately among interested fans, often simply as some typewritten sheets of paper. By the early 1980s, band fiction was appearing in print—in the Duran Duran fanzine UMF, for instance. By the late 1990s, it had made its way to Internet mailing lists. Today, band fiction can be found all over the Internet: personal websites, website archives, live journals, Yahoo! Groups, message boards—everywhere.
Band fiction is both product and part of an ongoing conversation between (often female) fans of a band or style of music. It's not the result of our conversation; it's an extension of it, a place we go when the language of nonfiction is not maleable enough to convey our thoughts and ideas. Sex is often a topic of our conversation, but so are love, loss, hope, insecurity, frustration, joy, disappointment, ego, failure, success....
Those who write band fiction use their favorite bands to tell others what they think—not only what they think of the bands they're writing about but also what they think of themselves, their culture and their world.
Band fiction comes in all sorts of flavors--science fiction, horror, fantasy, erotica ("het"), gay erotica ("slash"), westerns...you name it! If you haven't read band fiction, give it a try! Rockfic Press was founded out of Rockfic.com , an Internet archive for rock band fiction and an online community for rock band fiction authors and fans. Rockfic Press publishes band fiction in trade paperback format, allowing readers to take their favorite band fiction with them anywhere and enjoy them the same way they enjoy their other favorite books—while lounging on the couch, sitting under a tree, or riding the bus.
