...we are all damaged people...

About Me

I don't care if you were my best friend in kindergarten who I have thought was dead, or my long-lost fairy princess parents coming to take me away, I WILL NOT ACCEPT YOU AS A FRIEND IF YOU JUST "ADD ME."
I'm from NOVA and somehow I found myself back in Washington DC. There is too much out there to see an do to stay in one place for too long. That said, I will be here in DC for a bit... for better or for worse.
Spending the last three years in Japan taught me a lot about myself and the value of friendships. I've lost touch with more people than i ever could imagine meeting again. it makes me sad sometimes, but, i know that i carry with me the amazing things they taught me. Always.
So, I'm here, I'm home-ish. What does DC have to offer these days?
I am trying to find people i know and people who i actually connect with, I am not trying to look popular and get a lot of friends on the internet. Guys with only girls as friends or bands I don't know personally - need not apply. I am a nice person and i like to talk.. so feel free to message me. However, I am pretty bad at responding.
Corrected: DON'T MESSAGE ME IF YOU ARE A CREEP.

My Interests

music, international relations/politics, dance, mac computers, reading, nutrition, vegetarianism, organics, snowboarding, camping, being outdoors, being trapped in the city, spending entirely too much time in the gym, testing the limits, learning (every day is a school day), learning about myself, holding back from falling apart, writing, singing, existing in my own world, remembering the little things and forgetting just about everything else, what if's, the "fuck-it." button, taking bad pictures--but a lot of them, the unfathomable depths of human suffering, idiocy, total incompetence and flashes of genius.

I'd like to meet:

I am not on here to be a warm body on your friends list and make you look more popular. I only want FRIENDS IN REAL LIFE. I know you want people to think you are cooler than you are, but no one is buying it.

If I could meet anyone? Well.. hmmm.. i'd really like to meet Matt Skiba, PEACHES, the beastie boys, Jack black, me 5 years ago so I can slap myself, george w-- so i can kick him in the shins... vapid people, internet stalkers, amateur pornographers, um.. obsessive psychotics..BUT. i do not accept friend requests unless we are: a. actually friends b. sending bulk mail messages. c. sleeping together. So don't ask without introducing first. didn't your momma teach you any manners?

Music:

music makes me breathe. latest picks: Pinback, the Fire theft rock: alkaline trio, thursday, thrice, (old) saves the day, afi, converge, complete (DK), hatebreed, zao, hopesfall, fall silent, killswitch engage, shai hulud, engine down, coheed and cambria, sparta, alexisonfire, fugazi, Reggie & the Full Effect, tenacious d, bad religion, poison the well, social distortion, Marigold, jimmy eat world, placebo, sunny day real estate, suicidal tendancies, deftones. japanese rock: Envy, Newstartingover, eastern youth, local art, back horn, art-school, ellegarden, the stiff. good old stuff:nine inch nails beastie boys, they might be giants, tool, tori amos, anything by danny elfman/oingo boingo/boingo, joni mitchell, johnny cash, crosby, stills and nash, james taylor. my own shit.. anything my mother sings.. electronic: the breaks. dnb. nu-skool. electro. electro industrial. good funky house that gets down into the root of your soul and makes those hips groove.

Movies:

labyrinth, battle royale, resevoir dogs, glory, the goonies, the city of lost children, moulin rouge, anything that will make me cry (which is just about any movie, yes, i am an emotional weenie), amelie, the lord of the rings trillogy (the only movie that lived up to my imagination, other than the never ending story), time bandits, old school, the nightmare before christmas (anything scored by danny elfman, especially when in collaboration with tim burton)....

Television:

i banished my tv to the balcony because i caught it trying to waste my time. the news. but i love the aquateen hunger force and--of course--the simpsons.

Books:

there are few things left that are pure, not condensed for rapid consumption or watered down for ease of use. books are solid, simultaneously timeless and dated, personal yet enjoyed by millions, and can challenge you without ever saying a word. they do not encroach on you, you must seek their knowledge... learn something.

Heroes:

my family and friends. my phenomenal fiancee, Val.
