Pete X

Born and raised in Orange County, Pete X aka Pete D., grew up with a passion for Hip Hop. His influences and inspirations where within the likes of spanish music, Rage Against The Machine, Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Herbie Handcock, Roy Ayers, Dexter Gordon, Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde, and Nas. Born from a Mexican family where all his relatives knew how to play an instrument, Pete, picked up the clarinet at the age of 11, but failed to continue on. As a child he picked up his father's VHS camcorder and began filming, writing short films. As the years grew, in High School he turned to the digital world of producing music, and began sampling his influences and dropping fingers on the keys. From then on he has been using all sorts of instruments from guitars, bongos, saxophones, to kitchen house ware to produce soul head snapping hip hop instrumentals for independent artists as far as London and as close as Los Angeles. As a Film student he also composes the music for his own shorts, and other student films.
