Myspace LayoutsHello, I'm a theatre and film maker who has invested his energies in two fascinating cities, Lisbon, Portugal and New York, NY. I have been creating, collaborating and heading artistic productions since 1994. I have created a performance collective Advance D-Lux. We believe in destruction, action and reinvention.MY BIOGRAPHY:Jack Shamblin has originated, collaborated and performed for numerous artists including Caryl Churchill, The Skriker, U.S. Premier NY Public Theater, Theodora Skipitares, Under The Knife, La MaMa Etc. NY, Paulo Henrique, Minimally Invasive, Expo 98 Festival Dive Into The Future Lisbon Portugal, Siemen’s International Dance Festival Germany and Eva Mueller, Submergence, Sketch Gallery London. Solos include Fonte De Pow Wow, Jangada W.A.Y. Festival at LUX Lisbon, 3 Places, HERE NY, Teatro de Trindade Lisbon, Dixon Place NY, 42nd Street Windows Festival and Sodomite! Mother NYC, The Red Room NY and Dixon Place NYC. Original Plays include Thurma and Fake performed at Dixon Place NYC and University of Iowa. He co-authored, directed, produced & performed with Nicole Zaray Bread & Circus 3099 at La MaMa Annex NY 2003 which made Time Out New York’s list of must see events and was called “striking†and “funky†by Patrick Gallagher of Show Business Weekly. He has worked with Oscar Award Winning Actor 2005, Philip Seymour Hoffman; Mark Wing-Davey, Jayne Atkinson, Valda Setterfield, Kate Bornstein, Ellie Covan and Ezequeil Santos. He teaches performance construction, periodically at Lisbon’s Centro Em Movimento C.E.M. Workshops include High Fantasy, Causing A Scene, Haikurama and Advance D-Lux. In the world of experimental film he was featured in Godfrey Reggio’s Naqoyqatsi with music by Phillip Glass produced by Miramax, in addition he appeared in the 35mm short film Fan Mail dir.Brett Vapnek starring Carrie Brownstein of the band Sleater Kinney. Currently he is head of Advance D-Lux a performance collective based in Lisbon Portugal. The collective’s 30 minute experimental film O Castelo Preto (Black Castle) will premier in October. He is also presenting his new solo Revofuckinlution in various venues in NYC and Lisbon. Revofuckinlution has appeared in various stages at Dixon Place NYC and the Museum of Natural History Lisbon.
