Al forms one half of breaks duo "The Deckwreckers" who have been making their mark on the scene for the past 3 years. Al began dj'ing in 2002 and has steadily worked his way through the ranks, often playing his trademark funky breakbeat sets solo, both home and abroad. After producing and marketing several mix complations Al was given his first residency at "Electro" at the Soul Cellar in Southampton back in 2003. Many successful nights followed and the opportunity for a weekly residency at the K1 Club in Bournemouth was offered. "The Last Resort" at the K1 combined live bands with breakbeat dj sets and ran for about a year, before they were given a great opportunity to present a weekly show on the world's biggest breakbeat radio station - NSB Radio. Although the title wouldnt suggest, the radio show "Lets Get Wrecked!" proved to be a solid foundation to get themselves heard by a larger audience and by 2005 the duo were being booked regularly to play on the South Coast and all over London. Highlights of 2006 included appearances at Ministry of Sound, Slinky and The Double X Festival in Slovakia, playing alongside dj's such as Josh Wink, Judge Jules, Yousef, Bad Company, Marco Lenzi, Dopamine, Plaza Da Funk, Groove Diggerz, Precision Cuts, The Breakfastaz and many more. 2007 has seen Al concentrate more on his solo performances, with a new local residency in his home town Basingstoke going very well.On May 25th Al entered into the "Battle of the Dj's" competition run by the Funky End Bar in Aldershot, and was obviously delighted to discover a few days later that the judges had declared him the winner. His prize was a set before the Freestylers at Guilfest Festival on July 13th (see video clips below), and a monthly residency at "Fractured Funk", The Funky End Bar's monthly breaks night.Al plays predominately funk-fuelled breaks with big basslines and lots of energy. Expect funk of the highest order!
